What did you do to your Trike this week?

Walked by the trike, in the garage, about 4 times today. Always stopped and looked at something, I see a couple of things that need a little detail. I will be doing a complete clean and polish in the very near future. Jim

Went and visited my TG at the Harley dealership where it's in winter storage. Listened to the new Boom! Stage 1 speakers I had them install. Sounds like they are well worth the money. Also tried out the heated grips. They got nice and toasty warm. They'll feel good when I'm riding on cool mornings this spring and fall.

Had to tighten the bolt [1/4 inch alien] on the shift lever that connects to the Transmission shift mechanism [shaft]...10 minute job...But If you follow the service manual its major surgery...All you need is a 1/4 inch Allen on a long flexible extension , And tighten from under the trike...If that bolt gets too loose the lever will cause sloppy shifts or at worst it will just spin on the shaft and then you can't shift the gears...

Happened to my FLH, being the shift arm was cast aluminum, being loose wore out the teeth on the arm. The only way to replace the arm was to remove the primary. Replaced it with steel. Still a PITA. Ever since that it's a thing I have to shake it to make sure it's tight.

The'll tell you with the Tri-Glide you have to remove the primary but not so... I pulled it off [The lever] It will slide off and fall to the ground then i filed the clamp opening a little so it can tighten on the shaft' Then i used a new bolt all with out removing the primary...ThumbUp

Yes, winter time is lots of checks and fix, or check and replace! That's if you have a warm place to work on your baby. It is not fun working on a vehicle when it is cold.
Story time:
1964. 55 Chevy was not shifting correctly in the middle on winter in Dover, NH..BBRR Took snowshovel and packed snow all around the Chevy so the wind would not come in under the car. Got tools, drop light, tarp, and blanket and crawled under the car. Two hours later, transmission fixed and ready to rock & roll, a little cold, but not bad, BUT, I was a lot younger then! LOL
So, god bless you guys who work on your baby outside in the winter time. Been there and done that! ⛄⛄

Bought a new Bikemaster Trugell battery for Carla's trike. Last one is still going...2 year warranty but we have a few days over 3 years on it now.. have never put it on a battery-tender....it was giving some warnings - a tad slower start, CB ERROR on screen. Did not want to carry around a jumper cable just in case we got stuck somewhere so pulled the trigger. Jim's trike has same battery with same age. We did actually have to replace his original TrueGell as it failed 1 month shy of the 24 month warranty...they replaced it free. :) Paid $123 plus tax = $134 something today. We bought locally as to avoid the hassle of mailing it back if any issues. We have been very pleased with these batteries. Appreciate not having to do anything to it - just plug and play.

Thank you very much for your input. Need to check where to purchase locally.
Watched the video on the gel type battery, and they came up with interesting reasons why gel is better than acid type.
Thanks again.

OK, need to know what you used to glue the rubbers in. I tried to put new rubber to my brake petal, but guess what, a week later it was gone. I guess the glue I used didn't do a good job! LOL
Did you put a chrome cover on? Is the fan bigger output or just the same replacement?
Please, post pictures if you can, love to see the work.
Thank,
Rosy

Bit the bullet, purchased and installed Pro Action rear shocks. Anything - and I do mean anything , has got to be better than OEM air shocks! plus if I don't spend it, my kids will. They got a good head start. :shark:

They really don't give those puppies away, do they.
What was the problem with the OEM shocks, not enough adjustments to make the ride comfortable? Or was it a handling issue?
Looks like these new shocks have lots of adjustments. How hard are they to adjust while on the trike? Is it a spanner wrench type adjustment?
Did you take photos, if so, please post.
Keep us posted on your new "ride"?
Thanks,
Rosy

Installed LRS windshield - front fairing w/s trim, front vent trim, axle nut covers, custom dynamics led turn signals with frenched visors, spot light frenched visors, replaced mirrors, installed inner primary cover, shift linkage, rider footboard inserts, new brake pedal, replaced shifter pegs, front speaker trim, dash insert with gauge trim, and installed my Mustang seat with backrest. Drank 3 pots of coffee!!!

Holly-Molly, by then, You could call 911 for me, coffee would not help!
That is a Ton of work but I bet your ride looks and rides better.
Any photos on all the work you did. If do, please post.
Thanks,
Rosy

Pro action has a website with YouTube video. Better than I can explaine. As far as photos goes , no pix. As far as oem shocks go, like riding on rocks. Tune in probably around March.

Thanks for the advise on YouTube video.
We will wait, then you can report on your "new" ride, come March time frame.

Harley Handle Bars #55800589

I was wondering about these handle bars from Harley. I need a little more reach and the dealer recommended these even though I am 6' tall with a zeppelin seat. Are there any 6' guys or gals out there who may have installed these bars? Do you like them?

Let see if I did one item a day, it would take me a month. I do the same thing, when I do something I want to get it done. Weather has not been that great out here in the desert, but I talked to my brother in Madisonville, TN and he said it has been real nice out his way. Jim

Installed krome works 2" wide sweapers. Haven't rode with them yet, however just sittin on it , noticed that I was not leaning forward any more. I'm 6' also. :Excited:

2" sweep back, did they rise any?
I am vertically chalanged, 5'6" (younger days, now shorter, LOL), so, I put risers and pull back, and what a difference that made in long distance riding, WOW, did 12 hours with no problems.
But, did have to get use to the different position of the grips, mind says there are here, but in reality they have moved. Now it is second hand!
Please let us know how they work for you.
Thanks for sharing, any pictures you can post. I posted, when did mine on the Goldwing, had to move a lot of Tupperware!

Use my phone for gps , installed Kuryakyn Tech -connect device holder w/mirror mount # 1798. Must fit on left side, as the master cyl on right is in the way.

Changed out rear tire and added better handlebars

Things are normally slow around the holidays so I got my Yamaha Royal Star out and decided to make some adjustments. I never liked the pull back bars so I changed them out with a more straight setup which came off the Victory line. Also removed the rear tire and machined the rim to allow a standard 15 inch radial. There is a difference in the 15 inch metric vs 15 inch standard even though both say 15 inch. Much happier with the drag style bars and the tire should last 5 times longer than the stock MC tire.

Jack, we may see you at the Snowbird Gathering? If so, you and I can see what you have done to your ride.. That will be great!
Hope to see you soon!
