What did you do to your Trike this week?

A few years ago there was a picture of a Goldwing with a huge amount of lights doing a Christmas parade at night. It was assume!
In today's world, putting that many lights on would not tax the system because of the low current each LED would take. Not to say they would need a high output alternator, but it could be done. Again, comes the weight, not the LEDs, but the brackets holding the lights. Tax the frame, maybe! LOL

Saw a Gold Wing done like this at the Ruidoso, NM rallies a couple of times back in the early to mid 1980's. It was hard to tell it was even a GW it was so covered in lights and stuff. We were totally astounded that someone would do this, how the system would carry the load, as well as how could the frame support the weight. Wild!

They have one on display at the "Harley" Museum that looks a lot like that picture but not quite that many lights, but close.

That's way funny, but you could be right. I know I tell Janice to make sure she doesn't start the Gerbins, before I start the trike, not that the battery could go dead, but why take a chance!
I heard, Honda put high capacity alternators on their Goldwings because they knew people would likely tax the voltage with their add-ones! Were they correct...You bet you..
Mine: Gerbins...more lights on trike...trailer..more lights on trailer..Now I tried to put LEDs because of the low draw..Oh yeah..recharge iPhone..Garmin (GPS)...
See, you can't get away from Taxing the system! LOL

Interresting... When i got my Tourmaster Synergy electric jacket [15+years ago] there was a caution note saying that you should start your engine then turn on the jacket...Not that you'll tax the bikes system but the jolt of the engine starting might harm the controller in the jacket.. So thats what i do every time ;Start the engine first then turn the heat on...

Thanks for the update, your jacket is correct, maybe that's the reason for starting it first!
Great to know!
No surge protector on the jacket, like you put on the electronic equipment..

What I did was ride my Tri Glide to work every day. It's my only form of transportation, as the wife takes the truck to work. But more exciting that that is what we are going to do this weekend. We are heading up to ride the Cherohala Skyway in NC/TN and then go over to the Asheville area and ride the Diamond Back and go to Chimney Rock.

Well, I hear you about the truck. My wife used our truck for 13 years to go to work all around several states as she was a vendor. It was a standing joke at the local garage when I would bring the truck in for service, the mechanics and owner would ask if I had permission from Janice to drive her truck! Yes, she said I could! LOL She loved the 1999 4x4 F-150, as we had her for 16 years.
Don't forget to post pictures of you trip, it sounds like it is going to be fun. Did you do anything special to the trike to get it ready for the trip..oil change, check tire pressures...wash and clean your baby...Have fun!

She's brand spankin' new, so she is ready to go. Just bought her Saturday, 10/8

That's great, but check pressures anyway before you start..Did your mechanic say anything about checking torque on your mags wheels for a while till they set in..
I know that is a good idea!
Have a great time! My trike is in storage till we go to Florida for the Snowbird Gathering....I am jealous! LOL

I took the drum brakes off my 1999 GL1500 and replaced them with disc rotors and calipers. This wasn't as hard to do as I thought it would be but it was very time consuming. My friend had the tools and machines to turn down the rotors and axle face. The brakes aren't as good as they should be and I'm still trying to fix that so they will stop on a dime.

Howdy! Welcome to the fourm, sounds like you're going to be in better shape for stopping now. If you have a chance post some pictures of your trike, we love to see pictures here! Ride safe, we'll see y'a around ThumbUp

Welcome to the forum.
It's nice to have friends.
I'm riding today and my Tri Glide gets serviced tomorrow.
Ride Safe.

Boy, isn't great to have talented friends, with the ability to do machining when needed.
That is great, but please post pictures if you have them, I am sure other trike riders may want to do what you did to your trike!
Welcome to TT, and thank you very much for sharing!
Yes, wish I could ride, but my trike is stored far away from NH, so I drive my cages around and watch all the people going by us in their two and three wheel bikes! So Sad! LOL

I'd like to post some pictures but it said my pictures were to big and I don't know how to resize them.

Rode to the dollar store for my wife (she works) I am retired, went to the drug store for my meds
Went to see my grand daughter I call her The Mocking jay, today is her Birthday, we celebrated yesterday
Sorry for the babbling

You share information with us, you are not babbling!
Happy Birthday!
Sitting at home thinking of the things I was going to do on the trike, but had to be put aside, for this year anyway, till next spring, when we return from Florida.
Born date on rear tires getting very close..need to replace...put extensions on front forks, from Hannigan, don't have them on my 2002 Goldwing.
Trike is starting to show some age, chrome bling is starting to peel...but hey, 14 years..you expect it, if you don't, you are foolish thinking it will last forever! Well, two things, taxes & death! LOL
I am thinking of these things, WHY, because after supper, I'll say, what was it I was thinking about earlier today? Like they say, old age is a funny thing!
"Think about it now, Forget it later!"
I keep telling you, those da__, door jambs, they'll do that to you!
That's my story, and I am sticking to it!

Miss my trike. 48 now going to 62. Indian Summer day.
lots of bikes/trikes out and about.
But, doing house work getting the outside ready for winter, if I had my trike, then it would be, I'll do it tomorrow, and tomorrow would rain or snow! LOL 🌧☃️
Rosy

Sorry to hear you put your bike up not winter yet for sure. As much as I dislike Calf.. Politics anyway it is nice riding year round. Ride everyday I can since the number is smaller that's left compared to the number that's passed.:AGGHH: Well maybe 4 months of winter and you can be back riding in March:clapping:

Trike is stored in Alabama. Trying something new this year, visited relatives in Alabama, so I said, why not store the trailers there and pick them up in January on our way to Florida, instead of maybe towing in a blizzard. So, trike in trailer and Donkey trailer there. BUT, wouldn't you figure with my luck, yup, great fall for riding in NH! Normally by now it would be very cold, or snow on the ground! AARRGGHH 😩😩
So, sit here dreaming of things that could have been!

Sometimes the best laid plan's of Mice and Men often go awry.....

Boy, you nailed that one! Any other year, we would be up to our chin in snow!
Rosy

Thats why back in the olden days when you could get bike insurance for 12-9-or 6 month periods' I would always get the 12 month.. You never know if you''ll have a Native American summer':D' that last into December...

Rosy I was born and grew up in Maine right next door spent many a week end in the White mountains. Been to the top of Mt. Washington twice would love to ride a trike thu that area.:D

I have to do a BMW 24k service, which is mainly valve adjustment. I also need to add power relays for my Trailmaster camper lights. BMW wiring circuits don't seem to like the extra lighting load. I also want to remove and reapply the plasti-coat on the leading surfaces of the fenders and floorboards to help prevent those pesky stone nicks. Besides that, I think I'm good...............
Yes, BMWs are not bling friendly. One thing is the new LEDs do not take much power, so load in minimal on the alternator. Not like Goldwings which put huge alternators to give owners enough power to run NY City! LOL
Please take photos and share if you can!
Thanks
Rosy
