What did you do to your Trike this week?

Not much rain out here but when I have hit standing water grip just fine. Noise none, pressure run them 22lbs, ride real nice between the air shocks and the tires wife says like on silk. Weight balanced only because I purchased them from American Tire also known as Discount Tire a car and truck center. They gladly sold me them installed them had 3 guys on it they were fighting over who would do it. They took pictures it was a hoot! Got full service on them free swap and inspection, road hazard. lol plus 90k warranty like that's going to happen. I am happy and feel they grip the road very well even when I ride aggressive which is a lot.

alienwulf, what do you have for a trike and conversion?

Running a 1993 FLHS with 2008 Champion straight axle..They used weights to balance I did not think of beads but sure they would work.

Rosy, it all hinges on how much booze you and Janice have in the party wagon! Pulling all that extra weight, can really cause you to have to rethink the pressure in the rear tires.

The Bar Wagon, has a lot of plastic bottles, that keeps the weight down! Load the wagon heavy on the rear to reduce tongue weight..Don't want Janice to have a rough ride, do we?!

Big question, how much heat will be reduced? Is this the theory behind the improvements, or were you looking to increase the HP?
Have you noticed a big difference?
I have a question, I have seen lots of Dino's on Harleys, does anyone have info on Goldwings?
I asked my late tuner to increase the HP on my Wing, he looked at me and said, WHY, you will never use what you have now, BOY, I couldn't argue with him! LOL

Harley tire manufactured by Dunlop, lead wheel weights and I run 36 lbs of pressure in the front and 26 in the rear

Mileage front tire. I've had it replaced 6 times.
1. 32,066 miles
2. 28,353 miles (hit a deer)
3. 25,631 miles
4. 25,243 miles
5. 19,635 miles
6. 18,617 miles

The last 2 times we were going on extended trips and changed
the tires early. Rear tires I am on my 3td set.
1. 69,697 miles
2. 61,231 miles

I keep a close eye on the tires especially the front and the brakes especially the rear.

There is a trend there...
BUT, those are great mileage on the front tires for a trike!

I have had the front tire replaced early the last 2 times due to extended trips we were taking. The first 2 times I think I should have had them changed a little earlier but didn't until after extended trips.
Other factors like road surface, heat and how hard you ride the Twisties in the mountains also come into play.

You are correct about wear and riding, a friend also stated that where he rode, made a big difference in tire wear. Twisties, he said scalped his tires more than highway riding, so he didn't get the mileage out of them.
I have a question to the tire gurus, do trike front tires ride flatter than two wheel tires? I believe they do. So, should the tire print on the road, be about the same, going straight and doing twisties? Where as on a two wheel bike, the tire is " leaning" as you make turns.
Does that make sense? Or am I way off?

FYI..
Sitting with my body shop guy, he rebuilt my trike after it was rear ended, and did a great job, cut a section out and put it in..WOW...
Anyway, one of his people came in and said, we are almost out of Dawn, OK, I'll get another bottle, he said..What, Dawn, what do you use Dawn for, I asked?
Washing the vehicles before the customer picks it up..OK..Don't you use car washing liquids, nope, why spend the money, Dawn works better than they do..Why? Well, Dawn has a slight amount of grease cutting and gives a special shines and doesn't leaves spots..People asked me, did you polish my car, nope, just washed it..
Well, I tried it on my black trike. He is correct, gives it a shine, no other washing liquid did. Didn't see many spots either..
So, I figure I would share this information with my fellow TT members, use Dawn! I am sure the makers of the high cost car washing liquids don't like this message, but hey, we are here to save people money and help make your trikes look good, true!

Dawn is what I use at the shop for washing my hands and lubing tires for mounting but I would never use it on the vehicle for washing. Laundry and dish detergents have not only grease cutting additives but also will strip wax off the finish. They are somewhat caustic and in time will dull the paint. Car wash soap is the best solution for painted finishes but dawn is fine for tires and wheels.

replaced the brake light lens and the 1157 bulbs with led ones never cared for the old lens much..

Saw a Gold Wing done like this at the Ruidoso, NM rallies a couple of times back in the early to mid 1980's. It was hard to tell it was even a GW it was so covered in lights and stuff. We were totally astounded that someone would do this, how the system would carry the load, as well as how could the frame support the weight. Wild!
