2014 Tri-Glide Thread

Re: Twin cooled 2014 tri

I understood it was coolant stored in the lowers, not another oil cooler?
If you watch the RUSHMORE video at the HD site they show some of changes and vid showing new colors. I like all the changes, especially the LEDs front and reaqr! About time on a $30+k bike instead of ripping you off for them later. Like the idea of the foot peddle parking brake and new sounding exhaust. Was thinking about trading up to new trike with two bikes but don't see colors I like better than my 2012. Want to see some info on the new dual cooling first also.

Re: 2014's discontent in the ranks?

Ok went to my Harley shop last night and looked at the new harley trike

Here is what i seen

It is called a twin cooled motor

Is not cooled with water

It is cooled with Air #1 then it is cooled with oil going to the heads after it hits the Temp. oil is pumped from its own oil tank and cools off the head temp. It is called twin cooled not water looks the same but the lowers have to stay on. and like many thats the frist thing i took off of mine

Bigred

Go back and look at that 2014 Triglide again..

It is in fact air cooled, it is also oil cooled, but it no longer has an oil cooler. The oil cooler has been removed and replaced with an electric water pump. There is a small radiator and fan in each lower. The right hand lower has a small coolant reservoir in it. The forks are increased to 49mm, but I don't know if just the triple tree was changed to accept the 49mm forks or if the frame steering head neck was changed. The front brake is a 3 piston caliper, and its linked to the rear brake. Apply rear brake and one front caliper piston also applies some front brake.

You can apply front brake without any back brake being applied. The headlight, driving lights, taillights are all LED now. I'm not sure about the tourpack lights, although I think they are also LED. Parking brake moved from the right side hand lever to a left side foot lever. New fairing, gauge cluster and radio. Tourpack has been redesigned. New airbox and cam ( Cam is similar to the 255 it looks like based on some various forums discussions) Compression bumped to 10:1, new compensator on all tourers. Triglides, Electraglide limited, and 110CVO electraglide are now using water cooling in the heads.

Re: 2014's discontent in the ranks?

bigbob,
I didn't think they used lawn mowers that far north, only snowmobiles .
Just joking :D.

Re: 2014's discontent in the ranks?

One big difference is that the CB is now an extra add on. Saw one at the dealer today looks pretty good. The new fairing could be a big improvement for us Southerners during the summer. I definitely like the better brakes and the LEDs but will pass on the radio and the cooling. I removed the CAT on my '13 and did a stage 1 remap and air filter. The oil temps now run between 235-250 with 90 degrees temps and moderate traffic. I also like CDs over MP3 players.

Re: 2014 TriGlide Video

"Here is everything you need to know about riding a 2014 Tri Glide.. ;)"

Well . . . . . . no EVERYTHING. The H-D video still doesn't answer the question "General Discussion > Mounting a Trike" The rider and passenger "magically" mount and dis-mount :xszpv:

Re: 2014 TriGlide Video

You will have to refer to our member on here..American Badass... for instructions on how to mount a Trike. He is the expert!!!

Re: 2014 TriGlide Video

That's just great! Now I can't put my extended heel shifter on because the parking brake is right below it. :gah:
Why did they have to put the brake on the opposite side in the first place. Boo on H-D.
I think H-D made a HUGE MISTAKE in the ugly color choices this year. Blue is OK, but the dark red?? What the hell were they thinking of? Almost everyone I've talked to loved the bright Sunglow Red on the 2012.

Now if we can narrow all the threads on the 2014's to just one, that would be a great time saver. I wouldn't have to go to 4 or 5 different 2014 threads.

Re: 2014 TriGlide Video

I do like the location of that parking brake. Notice no mention of new cooling stuff. Them calling it the HD Trike instead of TriGlide probably means they are about to Trademark the word "Trike", just like what they did with Hog. Then nobody else can use it. Remember, you read it here first.

Way too many separate 2014 Tri Glide threads, so they have been merged. Let's keep the 2014 Tri Glide related posts in this thread.

Re: 2014 Twin-Cool System Video

I can stand the heat with the lowers on to protect my lower legs from debris.

And what if road debris pokes a hole in one of the radiators, wont it dump 1.2 quarts of hot oil/water on your leg being that your legs are right behind the radiators, may never happen,..... It would only take one time.

You all keep saying water pump that is a oil pump there is no water on this trike. I seen the trike and was told by the service manger It holds 1.2Qt of oil that is pumped up to the heads for cooling it And tell some of you hear it from your Harley store that it has no water

It may be hard to believe but at times the Service Managers do not know what they are talking about.

still would like independent suspension over the straight axle.........guess i'll just trade my 2010 ultra glide for a water cooled 2014 goldwing and trike it (motor trike conversion)........yep, that's what i am gonna do....lol

They are oil cooled heads the lowers are oil cooling vents but what about the cat. This is where all the heat issues are after $3500 and several upgrades my runs a lot cooler stage one tuner, vance and heinz true tuned duel header, se air cleaner ,255 cams, trudule harley davidson down slash pipes and dyno mine stays cool even on hot days. It dyno at 76 hp and 104 ft lbs of tork. the cat is the source of the heat problem if the 14s still have the cat I bet they still run hot just my 2 cents worth

Went to look at new 2014 bikes today. Could take it or leave it since my 110 engine is finally tuned to run at a acceptable temperature. Just waiting for the Screaming Eagle trike to come along and I may make the move. It has to be soon as many trikes as the MOCO is selling.
