Maggie Valley 2024

I had really wanted to make it to this gathering this year. There has been another event that has been happening around the same time every year and had gotten in the way. The dates for that got changed this year but I also committed to a gathering out in Colorado end of Sept that will cost me a week and a half of time. Finances are a bit tight this year as well. I still have a little time (although not much) to see if I might be able to swing this. We shall see...

I plan on being there, but I might be without my trike. Got the word today that Harley has decided to replace the wrong head on my new Screamin Buzzard engine. It was supposed to be shipped to Arizona today and will get replaced by the Harley dealer mechanics when it arrives. If I don't get it back in the next two weeks it will sit in the shop until I get back to San Diego at the end of September.

I have been holding off writing this post for far too long. For that I apologize. Unfortunately I have already attended my last MV gathering. My responsibilities at home do not permit me to be away for any longer than a day ride. Maggie has been my favorite activity ever since I triked my Voyager in 2016. I'll be there in spirit as long as I can still draw a breath. And yes, the the riding is great but you folks all make it so much better. Thank you for all the camaraderie and support.

I'll be lurking around TT so it's not like I'm disappearing.

Ride safe!

Ed

Ed I understand your reasons and you will be terribly missed. Hopefully one day things will allow you to be there again. In the mean time you know where I am and how to contact me. My thought and prayers are with you.

Sorry to hear that news Ed, you will be missed for sure but family comes first. I'll tell you what, we'll have a toast to you and have a sip of something, lol. Jo Ann and I will miss you and Ric for breakfast, take care my friend.

Is the cook-out still happening? Last time that I was there I got serve breakfast in my room with a quick knock on the room door.
Freaking COVID!!

I don't think the grill has been seen since then. They put a picnic area out back on the far side of the pool with the park style charcoal grills so I guess they took the gas one away.Me and Webster did a fairly thorough search 2 years ago and couldn't find it. Office girls had no idea where it was either.

We will miss seeing you Ed. but understand.
I hope circumstances work them selves out to give you more time.
We just got in from the Venture Riders meet in Asheville. I need to wash the trike, fix the CB and fix the lights on my trailer.
Arriving at MV on the 31st Cant wait to see everyone.

Sorry, we will miss you. We haven't been on TT much ourselves so we don't know your details. We are getting long in the tooth ourselves. This will be our 11th trip to MV and maybe our last.
Jan & John

Ed, sorry to hear that but as has already been said family comes first. Becky and I haven't been to Maggie Valley in a few years due to health reasons so we understand.

Stay safe and stay in touch my friend.

Woke up in Maggie Valley this mourning to a steaming 56 degrees, everyone be careful on your way in and we will be waiting.
A little early? We will be arriving the 31st. We usually come earlier, but decided to add a couple extra days and stay longer.

We are not staying longer because of Thunder in the Valley, just to noisy for me. We stayed last year after others went home but this year we leaving on the 6th.

Leaving tomorrow morning at O-Dark-Thirty on our cross-country trip to be in Maggie Valley next Sunday. Will be stopping in Knoxville, TN to see our daughter for a couple of days.

Has anybody been in contact with Chuck (HighAltitude), he made it last year.

Schedules don't allow Karen and I to come down for the week this year......
MV is only a couple hundred miles away, so we are exploring impulsive last minute alternatives...
:)

You guys will be missed but sounds like your gonna make up for it.

Things are starting to look up for me. I was able to clear my schedule up for Mon through Fri. I would probably leave home early Mon morning but will most likely stop in maybe Berea for the night then show up sometime Tue. I'm looking at also staying at the Best Western. That will give me a couple days to hang out and finally meet some folks. Fri I will have to leave early to head back and need to try and make it home in one day. Good thing is I will gain an hour on return trip so that will help.
