CSC Ground Effects & Bra

My CSC has the Ground Effects Package (I call them running boards) and the rear fender bra. The bra cannot be removed as it's pinched tightly between the fender and the Ground Effects Package (GEP) My idea is to cut the bra to conform to the edge of the GEP and mount the GEP directly the rear fender as it would normally be if there were no bra. Should I put something in between to protect the two surfaces. The mounting instructions from CSC doesn't show anything but it just seems like the right thing to do.

I've never seen anything between the running board and rear fender on any trike. Usually the Bras go on after all the body work is done. Is that really the way your is suppose to be??? :xszpv: :xszpv:

I can't answer if that's correct or not not as I bought the trike used but it was triked as a new bike.
Do most bras stop at the beginning of the Ground Effects Package?

Every one I have ever seen did Dennis. It's a neat way to hold the bottom down but the bras need to be removed occasionally so you can clean and wax under them. Just seems a bit odd to me. :xszpv: :xszpv:

Gold Rush, I might be misunderstanding your response, Sorry! Yes my bra is in between the fender and Ground Effects or I call them runner boards. I cannot take the bras off without removing those runner boards which is a pain. My goal or plan is to modify the bras by cutting them to match the contours of the running boards and adding snaps in this area.
My #1 question, when I cut off and remove that portion of the bra that's currently in between the fender and running boards should I put something back in there to protect the paint surfaces. My major reason for concern with this area is that my running boards have been LineX coated and the rougher LineX coating on the running boards rubbing against the regular paint of the fenders has me concerned.

Thanks for being patient with me on this.

First I want to let you know what we have, 2008 Goldwing, with a CSC Viper kit, w/”running boards”. These we dealer installed. I searched for fender bras and found an after-market in which we bought and I installed. They are installed “above” the running boards. Here is where we got ours from: http://www.brasfortrikes.com/product-category/decals/ . If you will go to the “Installation video” you will see how we put ours on. If it was me in your situation, I would find out how to remove the running boards, remove the bras, reinstall the bras and using the video, install the bras. Should you want to fill in the holes from the previous screws, I have used PVC (black) ABS cement. Using a small screwdriver drop a drop at a time to fill the holes. It will take a few days for this process. Or you can just install new screws in the holes. Hope this helps you.

Now I see your concern Dennis.

I don't think there is any reason to put material between the fender and running board because there should be no movement with the running board and fender bolted together. On the other hand, I also do not see any harm if it will ease you mind. Your plan to trim and snap the bras is logical in my book as long as there is enough material to fold over and hem the bras. A single layer of the material probably will not hold the snap very well.

Good luck with the mod. :xszpv: :xszpv:

Subar ..... Thanks for the link leading me to the installation instructions. I got greats tips there.

Gold Rush, As one of my dads favorite sayings "You hit the nail on the head ". I think putting something in between the fender and runner boards will make me feel better especially now that the floor boards have the LineX. That's a pretty rough surface to snug up against a nicely painted fender. I do think like you there would Probably be no movement.

Thanks Guys!

On mt CSC, my rear fender bra's are totally removable. They have 4 snaps, one in each corner. From what I understand they are the old style. The new style is the way your is. You can't remove them. My conversion was done 6 months ago with the 2015 kit. I'm glad the guy still had these in stock. He also said he prefers them better cause you can remove for cleaning.

The way you can tell which style you have is the lettering on the bra. The old style the letters CSC are all the same size (CSC) on the newer style the letters looks like this: cSc.

Thanks for that info, I think I have the cSc style lettering on my bra. Isn't it odd I can't remember for certain??? Age is a factor here!

That certainly is a fine looking ride your lady has.
