What did you do to your Trike this week?

I have Michelins on my rear and front, ask Janice and she will tell you the ride is great. I run 22 psi rear and 41 front. IRS does help.
Next set of rear Michelins will have ceramic beads to balance, just like my fronts.
Enjoy the ride!

Installer had 35 front I upped it to 38 and tire guys put 26 in rear per The Tire and Rim Association I put it to 22. Rides nice will leave it there for now. The TRA sets standards and say car tires can not be set below 26..so being they are trike tires now. Makes since on a car or truck could cause a roll over set that low.:gah:

I am surprised you run that much in the rear, I would think 18-20 would be the max. I have studied this aspect quite extensively and have opted for 16-19 on my fronts and 26 on the single rear. In my "opinion" anything over 20 psi will cause undue bounce and premature tire wear. You should expect 40-60k min which may not be the case with higher pressure. I will admit however I don't do much engineering on the 1-2 trikes so there may be other opinions on this matter more pertinent than mine.

You are very correct, but with a trike you don't have the weight. I have taken a couple emergency sharp turns with the trike and haven't had a problem, once pulling my trailer full of stuff.

Got the new tires put on Commander II on front and the Defenders on the rear. Rides very nice ThumbUp Figure all done with the trike now. Ya sure, had to order a top motor stabilizer mine started to make noise will not tighten up. So getting Velva Ride Stabilizer more money but better engine mount.rsz_20160501_102801.jpg

Great looking trike! Please keep us posted on your new tires, ride and mileage, so members may know what to expect if they buy the same type.
Thanks

I removed the chrome engine guard on our trike, yesterday. Looks a lot cleaner without it and since I've never used highway pegs,it's just dead weight on a trike.

That is correct, get rid of dead weight. I did on mine by removing the armrest, because Janice used them.
Did you take photos of the before and after with the chrome covers?

I installed a stage 1 screaming eagle air breather with the crankcase vent modified to vent out instead of in the breather. I also installed a stock front pipe with the catalytic converter removed and slipons from a 2014 cvo. Screaming eagle race tuner and dyno tune scheduled for Wednesday. This should help the heat problem, My breather was getting extremely hot. All this to prolong the life of my motor.

Will you have to retune your motor with the converter gone? I thought tuning at factory was done with converter in place. Could be wrong.
Hope your endeavor will cure your heat problem. I know those twins get pretty warm in the summer time when you are in stop & go.
Did you take photos?
Thanks for your input it may help another triker down the road.

Yes I will have to retune to compensate for the changes. That is why I am getting the screaming eagle tuner and having it dyno tuned. After a short ride before the tune I can already tell the breather is cooler and the trike seems peppier. I cant wait to get it tuned to see just how much difference it all is making.

I am sure your hp will increase, but to how much, 90 to 100hp or more?
Also, your power curve should change after tuning,
correct?
That's great, love to hear what your numbers turn out to be.

Well, with the weather not great for riding, I will have to run an extension to my trailer and hook by battery tender to my trike, so the battery will stay charged.
It is May folks, and it is still in the 40s when we get up, and as soon as the sun starts to settle, it gets cool.
It is sad when I did a route we are going to take this August for the NE Gathering in my truck, because at that time we had not seen the sun for several days!
Are we being punished by Mother Nature, here in New Hampshire, maybe so!
I hope our fellow riders wether two or three wheels are fairing well in the mid west with all those tornados. I guess I should stop complaining about our weather when this is happening to our West.
God Bless!

changed to Amsoil Tranny oil.

When I changed clutch cable I was offered Amsoil tranny oil If I did not like the changes it was free and they would put Mobile 1 back in. Well let me say the difference is dramatic the loud clunk when shifting is all but gone. ;) fearless

Windshield Change & Axle

Changed back to the F4 from the the Glockworks for a little better weather coverage.

Still waiting on the replacement axle. Should be here tomorrow.

What happen to the Axel? Normal wear, or other mechanical problems? Anyone else you know of have had this problem, or is it unique?
Thank you very much for sharing!

I replaced the Right side hi beam and relay and fog light relay.Ran an aux cord connection from the mp3 jack front left pocket to the rear right side pocket so my wife could select music from the shared mp3 library and installed a usb charger port on the left side pocket over the CB controls.

To me, that was a full day's work. Great, what did you use for oil? Dino or Syn?
I use synthetic in my GL 1800. Been using it for a few years now and haven't looked back. Change it more offend than required for synthetic, but that is peace of mind. One thing I can say, if I am very busy and can't find the time to change the oil, I am sure that I will not reach the miles which "have to" change, because it says good for 15,000 miles! LOL
My trike also needs a complete cleaning, but right now, time is something I do not have much of!

I just use Honda GN4 10W-40 but I change it every 3000 mi. That what the previous owner did and I don't want to change it now.

Did nothing this past week however a few weeks ago I added a spoiler with LED brake light.

Yesterday in the mail I received my LED lights from Joe Florida.

Sunday I will start to install the lights. This may take two days since I have over 300 LEDs for the engine and ground effects.

I'm hoping to add a few lights to my speaker pods which should give off a nice glow. I also have a trunk light to install and a quick disconnect for the Spoiler brake light.

Additionally, I have a Mic-Mute to install while I have the seats off. I'll just have to split the front fairing to do the driver's intercom.

Should have some pics in the next few days.

If all this darn rain would stop,I might get motivated to install some new parts on our trike. Just purchased an Arlen Ness Retro brake arm and solo shifter, with SMT Machining brake & shifter pegs. Am also kicking around the idea of powder coating some engine parts, dash, horn, and maybe even my Rushmore air cleaner again. Not Black but something like gloss Anthracite or Tungsten.
Just ordered a new, larger Corbin backrest for Sherry.

Clint,
I don't have a garage so I try to work on the trike and bike when it rains. I bring them into my basement.

I would like to get these lights on before going to Americade on Friday.

I use to live in Abilene my last 2 years in the air force. It was so dry there at that time, the cotton farmers down the road had NO crops for the two years I was there.
