What did you do to your Trike this week?

As I am PER Dover a Lodge 184, here is the place you can order them. Your lodge secretary, where do they buy their jewels, pins and such?
Go to Google: Harry Kitzner Company
Good luck!
Let me know if you need more help!

Rosy

thanks , I ordered one from e bay and will be hitting up our e.r. about getting some for our members.

Today is riding day in NH, but rain is in the works for a couple of days. So, we will look into the possibility of putting LED lights on the trike, for better vision while on the road at night time.
I will take pictures of the process and post. Hopefully they will not be upside down like the one I posted of the diner in Quechee, and I still don't know how to correct it.

Oh goodie. More lights!

I thought you would love the more lights. Now, be duress not to follow me so you won't get blinded! LOL
PIGGI, need more info, what pressure you running, take note of mileage for future discussions, how was it balanced, and reverse mounting or straight?
I have 12,000 on my MPA reverse mounted, @ 41psi, ceramic beads balance.

36 psi, bead balanced. It's a front tire so no reverse mount. Got 14K out of the stock Dunlop.

We need more info on Trike Glides as to front tire wear. Maybe you and other rides can provide this info.
I know we have info on GL 1500 & 1800 trikes with the various front tires. The rear tires, mounted on the front in reverse rotation has gotten lots of mileage in some cases up to 25,000+ miles.
So, if we have riders out there with info as to their tire wear, please post, no matter what the miles you got out of them. This info may help other riders in what to do, or what not to do to get the best possible mileage out of their tires.
I know I took advise from this forum as to what to do to get the best mileage out of my front tires and I was glad I did. 12,000 miles and counting with the front tire still looking brand new and no scalping.
Thanks to you and others for your help!

Kudos to you Rosy for your ingenuity in making things work through pure logic. Sad about the shop that screwed up, and sadly ya don't know until it's done. It's enough to make a preacher cuss. That shop will go out of biz, but not before they've screwed over a lot of good customers.

I also learned something from that experience for our future, in case one of our trikers has the same problem.
Here was the problem in case you missed it. While this shop was working to put in a new alternator, they broke the plastic tabs which hold the lower fairing in place. The same tabs that are used to secure the "Baker" type air wings on the side of the fair. The fairing lower would cost you about $500 to replace on a GL 1800.
The body shop I took the trike to, to have it repaired after the accident told me that was not a problem, as they could fabricate new tabs and "glue" them on, thus saving you lots of money.
That is a good thing in case someone in TT land has the same problem, they also could go to a body shop and ask them to fabricate new tabs and put them on. Something learned!
As for the "bad" shop, well they won't ever get my business, and if anyone asked about their motorcycle repair, I will tell them to go somewhere else, but they also do, boats, snow machines, and 4x4s, so they are a multi repair shop, and motorcycles could be a side job.

Added new LED lights to the trike. Here are the photos. Photos during the day and at night, also rear of trike.

Changed the air filter and converted all the bike's audio over to bluetooth wireless....tired of tearing up and re-buying expensive audio cords. Of course, the bluetooth wasn't cheap either...LOL

I just changed my position lights and cornering lights to LEDs, once done I turned everything on and my poor headlights looked plum dull and yellow compared to the LED lights, guess it's time to upgrade to HID headlights.

Guys, post pictures, like to see what you did. Maybe someone will also do it to, "Better to See You, My Dear", said Grandma! LOL
John, I'll buy you that song, I Wear My Sunglasses At a Night! LOL
Thanks for sharing!

Installed independent passing light wire harness kit that keeps the passing lamps lit when the headlight goes to high beam. I had re-wired my Road King without this kit some years ago. The hardest part of the install was getting my big hands up in the wiring under the radio to disconnect the wire harness. Also installed "Burst" collection fuel door. I'd like to get the rear speaker covers but OMG! H-D wants over $200 just for a couple of speaker covers. Must win the lotto...

Know what you mean with big hands. Janice has to change the headlight bulb on the GL 1800.
She has done this before, so she knows what to do. Need a headlight bulb changed, come on by, Janice will help! LOL

I added a Strobe Brake Light Modulator with several different settings. I set it for 7 flashes then steady. I've always had one of these on every bike I've owned. Very easy to install, even I could do it. Got it from Revzilla.

Could you tell me the brand of the Bluetooth unit you have?
thank you

Hi Phil,
I ordered the Gold Wing adapter from Sierra Electronics, then picked up some Sena SMH-10s from Revzilla.com. With the 20s out, the price of the 10s has come down a little bit and they're pretty much a proven unit.
One of those fits into the adapter which is mounted inside the left glove box, the other two go to our helmets. If you go to the GL1800riders.com forum and find the thread labelled: "Full Use of GW's CB with Any BT Headset" by a member named "fox2kill", there is a ton of info on how to make this all happen. The 10s seem to be working great, but the 20s still need some work in order for them to fully function with the bike.

Since we had heavy rain here all day, it was a good day to fix some things on the trike that I just hadn't had time to get to.

1. Adjusted the rear shock springs from the lowest level to the middle of the adjustment range to see if there is an improvement in handling. Time will tell.

2. Moved the Roadsmith's aux. fuel tank pump relay and its associated ground from the inner fender-well to up under the seat.
One of the many installer issues resulting from my Roadsmith GW conversion was the location of this pump relay. It, and its ground, were mounted to a frame rail inside the right rear fender-well. Whenever the trike was ridden in wet weather, this relay and ground would get soaked from the rear tire spay. The ground consisted of a pass-thru bolt that they didn't even bother to clean the paint off the frame to even try to get a good ground....very carelessly done. This setup, when it got wet, caused all kinds of havoc in trying to run the aux fuel pump which, of course, I wanted rock-steady reliable. Today, I unhooked it all, moved the relay to under the seat, took the ground directly to the bike's grounding bar, and rerouted the cabling as needed to get it all back together. Will it be reliable in wet weather? The "proof is in the pudding". One thing I did notice though, with ground directly to the ground bar, the pump appears to be pumping a little faster than before.

I bet if you took reading as to now and before on the ground, you might have found it took more energy to pump with a bad ground, than with a good ground.
On the shocks, did you noticed if you would bottom out on hard bumps, before you adjusted them? You may find better handling on twisties with the shock adjustment.

Word of caution, should you ever make it to the left coast, I think California limits the number of flashes allow with the rear brake to three or five.

Hi Rosey.
I'm pretty sure you are correct. I didn't take any amp measurements of the "before & after". However, I could tell from the sound of the pump and the increased fuel rate to the main tank that it was an improvement.
On the shocks: Yeah. A couple of times they bottomed in a hard bump, and I'm looking for the improvement in the twisties as well. We'll see how this works out.

Spent the nice cool/casual morning cleaning/checking the Wife/my trikes - getting ready to head out next week-end on the California State HOG rally - looks like 6 days of great riding here in this GREAT U S OF A......
:cool::laugh:

They are seriously distracting. Have a friend in TN, has the rear strobe, got stopped. He had to make a flash adjustment.

Thats what I want, so people behind me will pay attention when I'm braking and stop talking on their phone. Both my tail / brake lights flash. Not really any strobe to it, just flashes.
