What did you do to your Trike this week?

My brother-in-law's 1500 Motortrike's shocks had to be set at 70 psi to make the ride better. Her back used to kill from the trike bottoming out, after the 70 psi, she was a lot better.
Shock settings can make a world of difference, to the ride and comfort.

Good for you, finely a clean trike.

I was told to use a leaf blower to "wipe" your trike dry! Haven't tried it yet, does it work?
Clean machine...it will run faster..I have been told! LOL

Works great....' Also better yet, If you have a shop Vac put the vacuum hose on the exhaust port, And then you'll have forced ''HOT'' Air.. Blow and dry...ThumbUp

FYI, here is something I learned this week. It didn't happen to my trike, but it will help if you do have a trike.
Took my Soul to camp last weekend and got pine pitch on the body. Tried different things, peanut butter, soupy hot water, and car wax/cleaner. Nothing worked. The best thing I found was, hand sanitizer in the pump bottle, worked great. So, if you get pine pitch on your trike use this and it will remove it. I would suggest you wax the spot soon after, just in case it removes the wax coating.

Just came back from an early morning ride into Charlottesville to attend my Cars & Coffee monthly meeting. Thought I'd bring my Trike instead of the 57 Chevy for a change. I returned home completely soaked!!! Not from rain, just sweating!! It's so damn humid out there. I didn't even wear my mesh jacket. Just a long sleeved shirt and I'm still sweating bullets. You can keep this hot weather riding! I'll stick with my Fall, Winter and early Spring rides! ThumbUp:Santa:

Rich, no way you could tolerate Florida.

That's for sure!! lol. My trike hardly gets any use at all during the summer. I always get a kick of of reading the posts about most members winterizing trikes and putting them away for the cold weather. That's when I start using mine!!

Had the 15K service done at the stealer, came home and sucked almost a quart of oil out of the overfilled oil tank. REadjusted the clutch, added air to the rear tires and cleaned the oil from under the frame.

You are correct, they should not be able to turn a wrench unless they have a certificate stating they have completed a mechanic's course for the bike/trike brand they are working on.
My shop has all the mechanic's certificates on the wall as you enter the service department. I believe this is good for the shop and customer. I believe this shop cares about their service to give the mechanics time & money to complete their courses.

Installed the lift kit from tglidestuff. Easy install and prompt deliver, I ordered two sets, one for me and one for a friend and Dennis emailed me to make sure I wanted two. I call that above and beyond good customer relations. Thanks Dennis
I do love the extra muffler clearance and seat positioning.

Does it handle better with the lift kit? How about the passenger, any difference in the ride?
Thank for the info.

Had a new tail light put on today as the "old" tail light had a crack in it from the box. Had to order a new one to replace the one with the crack. So, the trike is completely fixed from the accident.

Mynameisearl, what pressure do you run your rear tires at? That will also make a big difference in your ride.
bulkness, I put one in my Wing and boy do I use it. All the way from keeping my trike's papers in one place to my tissues.

When I bought my trike and was looking it over I did not like what I found under the seat, there was a lot of wires with multiple crimp connections hooked directly to the battery, so this week I added a secondary fuse block and HID headlights. Putting the HID lights in was fairly straight forward but adding the relay to the light circuit was a bit more work than I had anticipated. The relay, which is tied into the oil pressure switch, prevents the headlights from coming on until the engine is running, this way the HID bulbs only fire up once instead of twice with each start of the bike, as I had read about on another goldwing site. Now I have plenty of light out in front of me that can also be seen easily during the day and I have cleaned up the wiring and have it attached to a fused circuit instead of the battery, I tried to upload some pictures but the files where too big, I will have to wait and re-size them and attach later.:D

Great work! Even if you give a word discription on what you did, if a member ask, would be a great help in case someone would like to follow suit.
How long did it take you to do the headlight?
I know what you mean about wires all over the place. It can become messy at least! LOL

I had a discussion / argument with a new trike owner at the last cruise night. Told him he should lower rear tire pressure to mid to lower 20s. He said they say right on the tire 38lb. I said what you got to loose. If I am wrong put the air back in. This week his wife hugged me.

I have a friend riding a 2010 CanAm RT, had to buy a new rear tire. Running too much pressure recommended on some forum. Wore it right done in the middle of the tire.

I've had my rear tires set at 22 psi since day one. Great ride comfort! ThumbUp

You have two different animals here, correct?! On a one/two trike the front tire is at 41psi and most are rear tire mounted reverse.
On the two/one trike the rear tire is a regular tire at 36psi, so, I can see where the tire would wear at a lower pressure, correct! See what I am trying to get at. Also the foot print of the tire is greater than the rear tire mounted in reverse at 41psi.

Replaced the battery after it died on the trip home from Minnesota. I have a Battery Bug that shows voltage and the "health" of the battery. When we left on the trip the Bug reported 43% health, and I had to start in "N". As the trip wore over 10 days and 2200 miles the health reading decreased. On the way to SW MO we stopped to get gas on I-35 about an hour north of Kansas City and the trike wouldn't start. Got a jump and didn't turn it off until we got home. The attendant at the last gas stop wasn't happy about us gassing up a running vehicle, but oh well. On a directly related note I got a set of motorcycle jumper cables and put them in with the tools I carry. Of course, now that I have them, I won't have to use them.

On a semi-related note, the trailer lights on the Bunkhouse went arwy sometime on the trip. Seems some of the wires running in the trailer tounge/frame wore through and shorted out. I rewired the system and ran the wires in plastic wire loom to protect them against wear. I'm hoping they'll last another 13 years.

I also cleaned 2200 miles of road grime and bug splatter of the trike.
