What did you do to Your Tri-Glide Today?

Yeah, I am amazed at how clear and absolutely brand new this windshield looks on this '04 Goldwing Trike, though the windshield is 5 years old. Granted the owner took excellent care of the trike, but I see numerous trikes coming through my shop with every concievable brand, style and variation of winshield made and this one stands out. Most will have some level of haze wheather minor or awful and it now seems obvious that the level of care of the windshield has far less to do with its condition than its construction.

Got a nice 97 mile breakfast ride yesterday before it got too hot, great breakfast, a fruit waffle

Changed the motor oil and primary oil. Went with the HD Gear oil. I like the way it shifts. Seems a little smoother than previous fluid. Leaving tomorrow on a 5 day ride. Bike and trailer is almost all packed. Final preps tonight.
I have tried the HD Gear oil in the transmission (but not the primary) and found it to be very smooth, right up there with the Shockproof Redline.

Have a great trip!

I had it in my 14 and it seemed to make it shift and find neutral a bit smoother. I still just use SYN 75W90 gear oil in the transmission. Seems to do well

We got a nice 110 mile breakfast run in yesterday, it got pretty toasty in the afternoon, around 93°. The love bug season must have started because it took the Misses and I about an hour to clean up the bike, I think we'll put the bike away for a couple of weeks, it's just not worth all the effort with those little buggers everywhere.

Since we're not going to be riding for a couple of weeks due to the love bugs, we ordered some NextGen shocks from DK along with the Initiminators for the forks, also getting a new front tire done. We ordered on Wednesday and they showed up today, WOW, great service. We're scheduled for the install next week.

installed a New Custom PTM (Paint To Match) center console….
For a little over a year, I had a custom Aftermarket console (very well known brand name…. Starts with “A”) with a “flush mount” gas cap.
It looked great… but two weeks ago, while on a ride with my son, I filled up right before I got home. After about 3-4 hours, I went out to clean all the bug guts off the Tri Glide, I about “Shizzzed” myself when I saw the paint bubbling! The gaskets got very soft and compromised the “seal”.
Was not very happy!!!
I reached out to them and they were willing to send me a replacement. But I declined! The last thing I want is for it to happen again and do even worse damage!!!

Last year I put over 5,300 miles on with that particular console on it and had no issue whatsoever…. SMH!!!

THE FIX:
Since I like to customize, I got a Black Road Glide center console, and then a custom gas lid door and a new custom center trim too.
So back to an OEM style, it’s now Painted, but still customized with the custom ”marble graphics” on the gas lid door and that center trim.

(With that being said, I do not recommend those Aftermarket center consoles with what I just experienced).

I do like how the new set up looks!!

Yes sir, to say the least!
I was doing wipe down for about 10 minutes on the front fairing as we hit quite a few bugs on our 1/2 day ride…..

and when I came around to the side of the tank and looked up, I was speechless!!. Thankfully the tank itself was fine.
But yes, I was sick.

Pic of the flush mount gas cap and double rubber gaskets just as I found it! (Note: When I fueled up previously, it went on just like it did all of last year with no signs of an issue… this all happened as it sat for a few hours when I discovered it… the pic below is the flush mount gas cap after I just popped it up to remove it.

My wife was saying there was a strong smell of gas when she went into the garage earlier that evening. 🤦🏼‍♂️

But my decision was made at that point to definitely go back to an OEM style console.
I just didn’t want the stock chrome one with the communications port back on.

I certainly dodged a bullet on this one and I guess it was just meant to be. It still has a custom look and has its own “uniqueness”.

After reading about others on here posting that they were changing their fuel filters I decided to change mine.
I have a little over 92000 miles on and had never changed it.
Check my manual and it says to change at 100000.
this is what it looked like sitting next to the new one...

May start changing more often.
