What did you do to Your Tri-Glide Today?

Returned the Demo Road Zeppelin Air Adjustable Seat today. Unfortunately, of the last two Harley Seats on my list, only the Sundowner Smooth Deep Bucket is available as a Demo Seat. Brought that one home and installed it, but no chance to ride. Looks like weather will be turning sour for several days.

Front Tire

Rode 75 miles to an independent shop and had a Michelin Commander rear put on the front, then rode another 220 miles in beautiful weather. It was 75 in Prescott, AZ and 80+ in Phoenix. I noticed it is a little harder to steer and that is probably due to a much larger contact patch than the stock tire. Can't wait to put a lift on.

My humble opinion.....Get the lift....ThumbUp..

Lift

Was lucky enough to happen upon a DK Comfort Lift on Facebook. Got it in the mail today and installed per instructions. Steers a bit easier than before I put the new front tire on and seems to corner and track better. Now I think I need to play with shock pressures. It will be a few months before I can get shocks. Next up is to decat my head pipes.Kurt

I got my shocks today. First off I'm not blaming DK for this... Its All on the post office and their crappy service... I tracked them to see what day I'd get them it took a day to get them from DK up to Des Moines Iowa... Where it should have been one day to my post office..... They sat for 3 days with out moving... Then they were here the next day after Des Moines shipped them out... Not saying much for 3 day priority mail..... Kind of Like FedEx taking 7 days to go from Kansas City or St Louis to me.... I could drive to either one in half a day....

Now thats off my chest.

They got here to late to warm up the garage to install them. Maybe tomorrow. But it won't be riding weather for some time yet... So there's not a big hurry... Going to be different for the first ride of the season... I decatted it, pulled the packing out of the mufflers, installed thunder inserts, installed a tuner and a DYI breather system, and a lift kit... but the lift was on before the cold hit. Still didn't ride like I wanted so I got the shocks now to put on...

Man, that is a bummer about USPS. They are great at delivering quickly 99.9% of the time, but that is of no consolation when you are in the .01% group.

Hope you get a warm spell soon so you can get them done.

While I am here, I received a message from someone about installation, so thought I would post my answer here in hopes that it may make the process easier for others-

The jack stands go under the crossmember, the one closest to the axle. The crossmember is under the trunk. I would put wood, or a heavy towel between the jack stand and the crossmember to keep it from scratching.

Do not put the jack stands under the axle, this will not work as it will keep the shocks compressed from the weight of the trike.

For jacking it up to get the jack stands in place, you can put the jack right at the very front of the swingarm (in front of the rear pulley, like in the video below) or if your jack won't reach that far, then under the eye hook on either side of the axle (only one at a time).

This video shows what I am talking about-

Rode to work and back today

Bummer you had to work on the 25th.

Great that you got to ride.

I rode into the shop today...low 50's and light rain. I don't like wet and cold...if it had been in the low 40's or 30's, would not have ridden, but these days 50's feels warm.

Got the shocks on, had to move to the back set of holes. The swing arm was on the header pipe with the mufflers hanging down. Shocks were still bout half inch long... Moved brackets and everything lined up perfect. 1/4" drop when I got on... To cold for her to come out, even thought it was 65 in shop...

Lots of travel stepping on the hitch. Looked and swing arm is about 3/8 off the pipe unloaded.... Think it will made a big difference. With the air you had to bounce on the hitch at 40 lbs... To make it move... I gained 1/2" of lift even with moving the lift bracket .... You done good :clapping::clapping::clapping: Now spring needs to get here... The mile and a half of gravel wont dry up till then.Mud hanging from the truck and Jeep.

It was 55 here in my part of Illinois yesterday, so we decided to go for a ride. Both key fobs were dead. Luckily, I had a spare fob battery in the tourpack (2032). Slid in a new one and we were good to go. Just at three years on the original fob batteries so can't complain. Replaced battery in the tourpack for the next time. Life is good.:D
