Looked at an 02 GW with a CSC that was done in 09. It had 40k since conversion and when I looked underneath there was some oily or grime residue pretty much all over diff housing. CV boots were clean and no slop in CV axles. What's approximate life expectancy of CSC drivetrain? Are CV axles and driveshaft hard to change out if needed?

Not bad to do, could be just dif axle seals. Should degrease clean and then find it b4 assuming the worst. JMO.

I usually assume worse case scenario, its just me. Lol. Trike is an 02 GW with 51k and 40k on CSC conversion. Its extremely clean, $3400 in chrome and accessories and owner has all service records and receipts. Conversion done in 09' I can get it for $17800. Just a bit concerned about grime under it mainly on diff. Think I'll take the chance. Get it home degrease underside and go from there

That I tried to see when I looked at it Sunday and couldn't see driveshaft very well. If I remember correctly does the new one have a rubber collar at front? What do I look for? Hard to see anything without jacking it up and removing wheels. Been looking for long time for 1st trike & this may be the one. In my budget and very clean and cared for

Ask the owner if the drive shaft has been replaced. I don't have a CSC, so don't know what to look for.
Recall was to weld the drive shaft. Then someone made a new shaft.
Someone jump in here that knows, please

We have developed a bolt in system for the CSC generation two driveshaft problems. This system replaces
the intermediate shaft and the rubber donut. This is a total bolt in system ( NO WELDING REQUIRED )it can
be serviced in place Call Stan at mountain trikes for more info 828-456-6427

Going Friday to bring it home. I asked when I called to setup time and owner says he's never had a problem & has not been replaced. Since it was an 09 conversion would it have possibly already had upgraded shaft?

I believe CSC told me they started using their latest drive shaft in 2012. So if he didn't ever have it replaced I would say it doesn't have their latest one. I updated mine last summer for around $1400.00.

Didn't know what the one from mountain trikes cost
Did yours replace the transfer case also?
There were some catastrophic failures.

Mine didn't have the transfer case. I believe they started those in 06 and mine is an 05 and triked new. What they sell is called a retro fit kit and what it has is u-joints on both ends of the shaft, as well as a few other parts to make it fit. After talking to CSC, and some other guys that had replaced theirs, I decided it was the way to go for me. Rolls a whole lot easier, no vibration and actually gets better fuel mileage, I suppose cause there is no bind anymore.

I have an CSC 2012 will I have a transfer case? What purpose does the transfer case play!

If I remember correctly from when I was talking to CSC the new shaft was starting to be used in 2012 but that was several months ago that I spoke with them. A quick look under your trike will tell you. The purpose I'm not exactly sure of but I thought it had something to do with correcting the offset of the output shaft on the engine to the rear end. Again, I'm not sure of that so don't take that as fact.

Got a chance to get entire trike up in the air & level. My 02 Wing has a 09' CSC conversion and the old style shaft with rubber donut & gear case. Drive shaft Has not been welded. Anyone have 40k + miles on they're CSC conversion with the old style shaft?

Changing rear end oil & gearcase oil over the winter and possibly driveshaft just for piece of mind. Shaft is still good and tight with no slop

All CSC trikes manufactured after January 1[SUP]st[/SUP]2012 has the new style 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] generation driveshaft. The only issue with the 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] generation driveshaft is in regards to the soft Honda driveshaft. CSC will pay an Authorized Dealer to weld this drive shaft which eliminates the issue. If you do not elect to have this completed, CSC suggests that you go with the upgrade.<o:p></o>
