A Day in the Life...

I've been out of pocket for most of the last 7 days....my folks were here, then my brother and his wife also arrived.

Been visiting, riding, visiting, riding....

Pic of my brother Greg from earlier this week.

Last Sunday, my folks, brother & SIL were visiting. They wanted to go to church.

My dad (79) wanted to ride in with me on the TG.

He was wearing slacks, and being in the high 40's, we gave him a few layers up top, some gloves, and rode 35 miles over to the "Full Throttle Biker Church".

He thought it was hilarious that we put an electric jacket on him...showing him how to control the temp in this pic-

He enjoyed the ride...quite plush compared to what they're used to. When they're in Aisa, both he and my mom, ride motos to get around...that is the primary transpo in many of the areas they do they're work.

Here's a pic of the two of them. They'll both be 80 within the next 6 months...still healthy and very active.

Thanks for posting Kevin. You mom and dad look great and so nice to see them active and involved. Now you dad with his bald head looks a bit like me. I'd like to grow a beard like him but the 'boss' says NO WAY. Had one in the 80s and she hated it. At least I've got the mustache which she has no problem with.

My brother, Greg, who was recently out for a visit, went on an extended ride in Peru is 2010.

It was not on Harley's, and it was not on what we would normally call "good roads". lol

He went with some friends from when we spent time living in Yarina Cocha, Peru when we were kids.

Here are a few pics from his "Around The Block" ride.

Map of the route (heavy black, red & blue lines)-

They rode thru the Andes....

....and the jungle.

Yep, that is a can he is getting a fill-up from...many places had no "gas stations".

I'll post some more pics from his ride soon.

Bet that was a challenging area to ride.

Yes, he said it was the most fun he's ever had, but also the most physically demanding.

I wanted to go along with him, but was still recuperating from my accident. Maybe next time?

Nice time great experience but...Not many 4 star hotels on that route betcha... Fred

You're right about that!

Dreaming....This is back in the early 70's, my brother Greg in front, and Toby. Toby is the one that put together the Around the Block ride.

Up in the Andes...

....the views are amazing...

...and the roads...

ATB%203.jpg

....Challenging. Those little lines you see...that's the road out of the jungle, up into the Andes.

A fun, but physically demanding day!

Doesn't look like some of the roads have changed one bit since I lived there 40+ years ago. lol

I had an invigorating ride into the shop today. 31* and dry.

The kind of day where the bike is just itching to go, where the road beckons, heated jacket and long-johns keeping me warm, it's tempting to just keep riding past work! :)

I thought about you when I went out to my SUV to go to the gym about 8:00 o'clock this morning and there was ice on the windshield. I wondered if you'd ride to work or have Mary drop you off. Should have known that would not be happening, lol.

Hi Jerry!

Yes, I pretty much ride 365...if it is really cold and raining, or lightning storms, I'll borrow Marys truck, or get her to give me a ride in.

There was ice on her windshield and in our driveway yesterday morning also...but none on the road. :)

I know a lot of your guys and gals have it a lot colder up north!

But I must be getting old/soft. Rode in this morning and the temp was 33*, but it sure felt colder.

I remember riding in the 20's with no electric gear and it felt warmer than it did this morning!!!

And it is only just beginning!!!! :cxtv:

Yeah, I hear you. I'm pretty much a fair weather rider myself as I ride for fun and enjoyment - not much of that if you're cold and / or wet, lol.

I agree with the old/soft, I used to look forward to this weather after a long hot summer but now it just makes my joints hurt! Getting old sucks but it’s better than a dirt nap. 😎

Yep! Getting old is better than the alternative.

:) I seem to remember you leaving out for your fall leaf trip in the cold rain??? Yeah, I get what you mean...but as of yet, for me, even the worst day riding is better than riding in a cage. :D

Around here it's relative. Get down to 20 in November and everyone is freezing. Get up to 20 in February and everyone's running around in shorts...

Yeah, same here...probably in another month I'll be used to our "cold". Not sure at all that I could get used to the cold up your way!

Kevin

70 degrees here yesterday. Took the dyna out for a long spell, just putzing around. Weather's kinda weird this year, down to 3 degrees Weds. morning...

About a month ago we picked up a 06 GSX R1000 for $100...just to get a few parts off it.

R1000.jpg

Today we finally took 30 minutes to pull the parts off it that we wanted. Now the rest of the bike is going to Devin's house...he wants to one day build a go-cart using its' engine.

Got the forks off for some future project bike.

Same with the Yoshimura muffler...it may end up on some future project bike.

Dwayne wanted the rear master cylinder for his Ironhead Project bike-

Riding in this morning I saw a new (and not great) thing.

I should have turned around and gotten a photo.

There was a tractor going down the road, which is not unusual in our part of the world.

What was unusual...he was talking on his cell phone and not really paying attention to the road, as evidenced by his swerving around!

Kevin

Besides what feels like 1000 other things going on at the shop today....

Got my zerk fittings in...

Zerk%20Fittings.jpg

...going to be installing on my primary case for the shifter shaft. Used to have these on all my bikes, but in the last 10 years or so have not, nor have I felt the need.

However, on current '14 TG it is getting a bit loose. Not sure why, but going to fix it.

On another note, we have been using our 3D printer, most everyday, since March 2017.

We had our first mishap over the weekend.

The "hot end", what I would call the printer head, ran into (repeatedly) some plastic that had come loose from the base. Ended up making a melted mess on the hot end.

We're going to try and clean it...if we can't get it cleaned up, we already have a replacement on the way.

Thought you might be interested in a few other pics....

...interesting to see that big sections of the 3D printer were Made With a 3D Printer-
