A Day in the Life...

People at a outdoor cafe....Looking at a bike with loud pipes going by...

Biker, Wow their looking at me...They must think I'm cool'''...

The People at the cafe thinking ;There should be a law against ''A'' Holes like that...

Yeah, has a lot to do with wrist control....but I understand, there are some folks that will not be happy no matter what.

All my bikes have loud pipes (see Sporty, Softail and Tri-Glide in video below), but I've been all over North America, including Canada, with them...never had a problem...When I'm around neighborhoods or a lot of traffic/people, I don't rap the throttle...purposely ride quiet.

Where I live, my neighbors don't mind, and I'll ride normally (loud) during the day, but if I'm leaving or coming home when folks may be sleeping, I ride quietly.

Today's 'modern' biker is giving the public something else to hate instead of loud pipes. These days the stereo is louder than the pipes...

Yeah! Some of those stereos make the loudest pipes sound quiet.

During bike nights we eat at an outdoor cafe and watch/listen to the bikes go by. Every now and then there will be someone rapping their pipes so loud we have to quit talking and wait for them to move on....same thing with guys playing their stereos crazy loud.

Decided to change out my License Plate Bracket and Run/Brake light today-

Changing%20Plate%20Run%20Brake.jpg

Getting all the wire exposed to leave some going to my turn signals, and the other wires to go to my plate bracket (which is going to be mounted off of the primary).

Plate%20Wiring.jpg

As I was working on it, I realized I want to go ahead and change my turn signals, front and rear, also.

So I started digging into the wiring, most of which I did on this bike 5+ years ago...

Going%20Deeper.jpg

...gonna finish up the new plate and run/brake install tomorrow. Then do the turn signals soon after.

A mini "Winter Upgrade" on the Sporty. lol

Finished installing the primary mounted License Plate....

...with some bright LED Running/Brake Lights.

Did not go for a ride...I was in shorts and a tee when I finished and it was cold, raining and dark outside.

Also removed the front and rear turn signals. Still ruminating on what I'm gonna run out back.

In the meantime it will be hand signaling.

Ahh well what in the works for the bumper reinforcement?

Have not even thought about the bumper in weeks...been pretty busy with a ton of other details....gonna get on it after the first of the year. Probably just re-weld it with a couple of extra gussets in the same place.

Same time I do that, going to also replace the heim joints on the panhard rod with some quality units.

Your day looks better than mine. We have sunny, but...

P1020051.jpg

got an inch of the white stuff last night. Light and fluffy, so took the leafblower after the small stuff, the snow brush for the drive and sidewalks. was about half done when a kid on a scooter drove by. When I was his age I was that dumb too.

A little sunset out my back door from the other day...

Beautiful sunset!

Don't know about that white stuff though! :xzqxz:

The shop got a "new" used Drill Mill.

Over the last 10 years we have worn out TWO brand new $1000 drill presses.

Last week we stumbled across this 33 year old drill mill. It is in excellent condition.

Drill%20Mill%201.jpg

They just don't make them like this anymore. This unit weighs over four times more than the drill presses we've been using.

I expect this will last another 20-30 years! :)

Kevin..

Looks like you guys beat the “Pickers” to that old barn!

Congratulations!

Just in time for a tax deduction. :pepper:

True that! :)

Thanks. We got it from a place that bought it new, barely used it over the last 3 decades, and when they did, all they cut with it was plastic! It is in virtually new condition. :D

PLUS we got it for less than we would have paid for a new, gonna wear out in 3-4 years, drill press.

We're working on some Trophies for the 4th Annual IBC.

Here's one that's almost done-

A few roughly mocked up-

These parts are nasty, so we need to run them thru the vat before starting to weld them up.

Here are a few batches, after coming out of the vat...

Tomorrow we'll weld them up. :)
