A Day in The Life - 2025

Thank you.

Our 42 year old daughter has been on life support for over a week. (Not a motorcycle accident) MRSA in the blood affecting all organs, pneumonia and other complications

Last night was the first time she responded, by squeezing my hand when asked to. That is incredibly good news.

She still has a long ways to go, but has "turned the corner".

She started out with zero heart or lung function, and kidneys were doing so poorly she was on dialysis until Sunday.

Her heart is back functioning, and lungs are at around 10%.

She has been on an ECMO machine keeping her alive. Up until yesterday she was in an induced coma, now she is just heavily sedated.

Any thoughts or prayers are much appreciated.

The entire DK Team has been doing a fantastic job at keeping all the workload off me, while I am in California with Jill.

Kevin,
What camera and lighting do you use? And what software works best for use with your greenscreen?
We used gopro for years...but periodically they would overheat, and/or, lose a file...they were not trouble free, and would only last 1-2 years before they just stopped working.

About 2 years ago we got an Insta360, which we used in conjunction with a gopro...but then when the latest gopro bit the dust, we have just been using the Insta360, and it has been trouble free.

The built-in microphones on the gopro and the insta360 are not good enough. We have tried a variety of different mic set ups and still was not good enough until we got the Rode Wireless Go II Mics seen at this LINK.

For lighting we are still refining that. We have a couple of LED camera lights, like seen in this LINK and they work ok, but don't light up nooks and cranny's of the engine during an installation as well as we would like.
For green screen lighting we have 2 of the lights seen in this LINK. They work ok, but not great.

We use Premier Pro Software for editing, but if you are Apple oriented, the movie editing software that comes with the Mac's works well also.

Jill is still in the ICU, and the ECMO is still being used. But her lungs are beginning to work, and by early next week they expect she will be off the ECMO and only on the ventilator via her tracheostomy.
She is still in an induced coma.
She is getting better.
Thank you, everyone, for your thoughts and prayers.

Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers.

Jill had surgery last night to remove the ECMO. Her lungs are back functioning.

She is still on the ventilator in ICU, but no longer in an induced coma.

She has a rash that is covering more than 50% of her body. It is driving her bonkers. So much so that she has tried to crawl out of the hospital bed, with 9 IV's, a catheter, a feeding tube and a ventilator hooked up to her tracheostomy.

So they are keeping her sedated most of the time while they are trying to figure out what is causing it so they can get rid of it.

In 2 weeks she has gone from her heart, lungs, & kidneys not working, to them all working now. :D

Kevin

Thank you!!!

It has been a busy last 4 days.

The rash is almost completely gone. We met with 4 of her doctors yesterday.

She will be on the ventilator for 2-6 more weeks. Just depends on how quickly her lungs heal up.

They used a fiber optic camera down her trach today to look at her lungs, and suctioned out some obstructions (scabs). So that should help.

We appreciate all the thoughts and prayers coming her way.

Jill is out of the woods. Full coherent, although she can't speak, she can write, and I have been getting better at lip-reading.

She still has to get weaned off the ventilator, and then her trach closed up, then rehab.

BUT, she is on the mend!

I am flying home tomorrow morning, and will be back in the shop on Monday.

Thank you for all your thoughts, prayers and support.
:)

Regular posts will resume here next week.
