2019 Trike Nav system question

I am having trouble understanding a feature on my 2019 triglide nav system and hopefully you girls and guys can help me out.

I have been playing with the route "pause" button trying to figure out what & when it should be used for.

This past week our group did some riding in Lafayette at the HOG Rally and went on some of the pre-planned rides that you can load on the bike from the HD app.

During one of the rides, we had to make an unscheduled stop along the way. Normally when we do this and I turn the bike off, I lose the route and have to restart it which is a pain because we may have crossed numerous waypoints and I'm not sure where we are in the route via the waypoints so the route gets screwed up and we have to use other means to get to the destination.

During this ride when we made an unexpected stop, I went to the stop button and selected the pause option before turning the bike off hoping this would save the route at the point at which we stopped. About 10 minutes passed and we resumed our ride. Started my bike and the route came up with me starting at the location we had stopped at. So I thought this was the function of the pause button.

Next day, we purposely tried this again on another ride to determine if this was the intended function of the pause button. This time the route did not come on at all and had the same issue stated earlier.

So my question is - when and how should the pause button be used during a pre-planned ride in the nav system.

I like the feature "create a ride". I enjoy the navigation system on my 2020 Tri glide. There is no tutorial or manual that totally explains everything about this navigation system. It's a hit and miss system. Some parts are easily understandable and some are totally frustrating. Trying to remember every little detail on how this navigation system works is impossible. I got the basics down and even some more integrate items. Trying to remember all this technology at a time when you need/want it, is like "Really" *&^***$#$$. You have to use it a lot to really get the the system in your brain. Repetition is the best teacher. I just remember and try to figure out at home the functions I use a lot. The real test comes when your riding now you want to get the information into the system. Commie navigation designers. Why can't it just be simple. 2+2=4.
