A Day in the Life...

Sorry to say there would be a price to pay for messing with me. It is just who I am. I have had June bugs leave welts on my face many many yrears ago alsso Locusts Zero tolerance for insects. :sneakydevil:

 I hear ya...and a few years ago when a hornet started stinging Mary...she made quick work of it, squishing it dead.

Yesterday was interesting at the shop....everyone was out looking at the eclipse thru a welding helmet.

At the peak, the sun was about 93% covered.

Welding%20Helmet%201_zpspuozckpm.jpg

While we could see the crescent very clearly thru the helmet lens....

Welding%20Helmet%202_zpsv60ya8hv.jpg

...we could not get a photo of what we were seeing.

What was most surprising was how light it still was, even with 90+% of the sun covered.

...even though we could see (thru the welding helmet) that almost the entire sun was eclipsed by the moon. The cameras could not tell it.

Later in the day...around 7:40 pm, this is what the sun looked like on my ride home. :)

Never made it to the shop yesterday.

But I did get to ride all three bikes for about 300 miles total, And get a lot of work done.

First stop was at an HD Dealership...

1%20Stopped%20at%20HD_zpsqflqd2qf.jpg

...wanted to see if they had any 18's yet. No go. The truck is scheduled to drop 3 units off tomorrow (Friday).

Next stop was Cycle Therapy.

Dropped the Sporty off to get the rear tire replaced, and the quick-release valve rebuilt.

Trading the worn out 402 (too many burn-outs :) ) for a new American Elite.

Picked up the Softail. It's been there getting some warranty work done. I've only ridden it about 120 miles since picking it up yesterday, but it seems like they did some great work. I asked them not to clean it...so the dirty whitewalls is not a poor reflection of their work.

Work done:

Installed new front tire that I dropped off with the bike

Installed new rear tire under warranty (I'd picked up a nail)

Replaced one rear shock under warranty

Fixed pulling to the left under warranty

I then headed off to two different appointments in Memphis...no pics.

Then stopped at a different HD Dealership where I was scheduled to take photos, videos, and test ride a couple of 18's.

Unfortunately the truck had not arrived yet...It has been rescheduled for delivery on Friday also. So hopefully I will be doing all that tomorrow! No Pics.

I then rode home, parked the Softy, and Mary and I got on the Tri-Glide and headed back up to Memphis for Bike Night on Beale Street.

Doesn't happen often, but it's sorta fun to ride 3 totally different HD's in the same day. :)

Kevin

Yesterday I spent a few hours at one of our local HD Dealerships.

Test rode a Fat Boy, and spent a good deal of time looking over the FB and a Heritage.

There is a Report with photos and video, along with my impressions, at this LINK.

Here are a couple of pics-

A few days behind...but last Wednesday we were up at Beale Street again for Bike Night.

No, it does not get old...thousands of bikes and people, good food and conversation with Mary. Plus last Wednesday was pleasantly cool....low 80's.

We got there early....

1%20BS_zpsfji8xlsa.jpg

...but with it being the first cool Wednesday in quite a while...

It was cool enough that we went for a walk up and down the street.

This is looking west....

Some paint that...

Today is the big day we have been working toward for over 2 months!

We are moving our shipping facility from one location to another...it is only across the street, but every item on the shelves needs to be counted and then carried across the street to the new BINS.

Along with the move is a complete change in our inventory control software going into effect as we make the move.:clapping:

I'm riding up to Memphis shortly to start counting. lol

We have over 20k parts that need to be counted. :cxtv:

I'm going to sell my trike...

..or burn it or run it off a cliff...

Decided to run down to the tourist trap to see how busy they were (wall to wall) on this last weekend of summer. Didn't get 10 miles out of town before I got nailed by a bee. Really? Third time in 4 weeks. I thought maybe it's because I'm such a sweet guy, but it never happens on the Dyna. Trike must be hexed.

There's a 12 mile stretch of I94 to get to the trap, so I'm doing 80 and come up on a slow-mo trailer. I start to pass and found this:

P1010794.jpg

Did a quick stop at the next exit and snapped a fast one. He was putzing along at 55, enjoying the ride.

Traveled the back roads home and got the mandatory trike in scene pic. Some more ND landscape:

P1010797.jpg

Filled gas before I left. 20 cents higher than Thursday, $3.049 for prem. Got 42 MPG on that tank...

The ramp up into my bike room has been getting a few soft spots in it, and one spot that had collapsed...

Ramp%201_zpsdctrht2c.jpg

...it made it a bit "fun" when going down the ramp if one of the tires got in that "low" spot.

Ramp%202_zpsgdjrc6sa.jpg

The problem was that we did not paint or protect the wood where it was in contact with the ground...so it just soaked up the water and got mushy.

Ramp%203_zps4vzfxidd.jpg

The frame is actually quite strong, and in good shape...

Ramp%204_zpsr0ekv6uh.jpg

...although I did go ahead and put a couple more supports in it, and paint the exposed surfaces.

I'm also replacing the 5/8" plywood with 3/4" plywood.

Ramp%205_zpsasl6xevp.jpg

Yesterday afternoon we stopped after giving the plywood a good heavy coat of paint.

Ramp%206_zpsbyvjvvos.jpg

This afternoon I will be putting plastic edging on the bottom edge of the plywood, so that when water is setting, it will not get into the wood. Then attaching the plywood to the frame, and then putting some new roofing material on it.

By tonight I should be able to get my bikes out of the bike room where they have been stuck. :)

But, what's up with you getting stung so much???

Wow! Not sure what's up with the weather...but it has been a very mild summer for us...and last night was in the low 50's!

This morning was the first time I've worn my leather jacket in many months.

Weather%209-6-17%202_zpsvnt8yu3z.jpg

Looks like it will be in the 50's each morning on the ride in for a while. Crazy for us at this time of year.

Kevin we have seen the 40's already in the mornings Maple trees are loosing green leaves. kinda stinks Fred

Finished up the ramp...

Ramp%207_zpsmhmpqcvp.jpg

Put heavy plastic at the top and bottom edges, along with some edging on the bottom to keep water off the wood.

Ramp%208_zpszoainpnw.jpg

Done securing it to the frame with wood screws.

Ramp%209_zpsmlsobhgy.jpg

Rolled out the roofing, and set it in place.

Ramp%2010_zpsjlikijxh.jpg

Still need to screw the roofing material into the ramp, but I've been using it the last couple of days as is. Will get it done this weekend. :)
