Anyone have a suggestion for a good "half-helmet" with plenty of ventillation. My current helmet is getting ready for retirement due to age and being dropped too many times. I use the J&M earphone-microphone thingy that replaces the regular ear flaps. Just looking for suggestions for a good brand to check out. I don't need to hear about how half-helmets suck and I'm nuts for using one... Thank you. :D :)

You may have already checked out this site for helmet info, but just in case check out this site, it has all kinds of info on all types of helmets including weights & reviews.

I had to laugh when I read this-" I don't need to hear about how half-helmets suck and I'm nuts for using one... Thank you"
you do know that you, 'MAY HAVE', stopped up to 80% of the replies you would have got!?!?

Contact Robert Overby of Overby's Two Wheel Sound. NOBODY more knowledgeable and experienced with Helmets especially when melded with Com.

This summer, I bought a Bell Shorty that I'm really pleased with. It fits well, no pinching, has air vents and a visor. ThumbUp

That's a great reminder, Veritas. Now that I think about it, I think I purchased my current half-helmet headsets from Mr. Overby at Americade, a few years ago. Maybe even the helmets we currently use. Thanks for reminding me. ThumbUp

Thanks, Rick. I'll check them out, also. ThumbUp

I'm still using a Bell 1/2 helmet that I've had for years. Of all the helmets I've tried and bought, it's just the most comfortable for all day wear. I just looked for one at the Bell site, but didn't see it, may have been discontinued..... sniff ....

Did it have any special name or model number. Maybe there's "old stock" around somewhere. How was the ventilation?

Went & got it off the bike. It's a Bandito. The lightest I could find back then, date stamped Jan-07. Found it here : http://thebellstore.com/Helmets/bandito.html but guess it has been discontinued, only available in S & XL.

There are no front vents, but with the visor I seem to get good circulation. I have newer HJC & Vega 1/2's, with front vents, but the padding is very thick & hot. Hard to tell if the vents even make a difference... unless it's raining. :)
