I have wore a half helmets for a lot of years. Always had a fairing bike for touring
now that we have a flrt with winshield I am considering a modular helmet. Way too much wind noise. No buffeting, just plain wind noise.
What are some brands that have a good rep that you have or are using. Looking for one that is quiet as possible.
Been researching and found some interesting. I always try on a helmet befor buying. Made too many guesses in the past.

I just bought two HJC Max modular helmets With J&M premium sound systems installed. Haven't had a chance to use them yet but my trike should arrive this afternoon and I will wear mine tonight on the way to work.
Also heard that Nolan made a very nice helmet that is about 5 oz. lighter then the HJC

HJC SyMax I was the 1st one I had. It worked great. Next was a KBC. It was the most comfortable and also cheap. It also saved my life when I totaled my RSTD. Bought an HJC SyMax II. Very nice helmet and comfortable but a little noisey. It also saved my life when I went down 8 weeks after the 1st wreck on my RSVS. Now wearing an HJC CL MaxII. It is very comfortable, Bluetooth ready and was relatively cheap(on sale). Needless to say I like HJC,I don't mind using lower to midrange price helmets as long as they are quality. KBC and HJC are both known brands that have been around a long time. KBC is Korean Bell Corp. HJC I have worn in various configurations for years. They have always been comfortable and long lasting.

So far I have tried a couple on. One has a round chin and the other has a more of kinda pointed chin. Hopefully it won't rain tomorrow and I can go to town for a change and test fit.

I don't know how I will take to wearing a full helmet again. I have been wearing a Shoie Cruzer helmet since 2000.

I never realized that helmets had a "shelf life". Since mine was about 8yrs overdue to be replace I figured, new trike, new helmet(s).

Don't normally wear a helmet locally but will need to wear one in VT and Canada.:Trike1:

Schuberth Helmets are advertised/tested as the quietest on the market!! But expensive. I have had several brands over the years and the Schuberth is the best fitting/quietest helmet I have ever had. Great product but $$$.

That is what I have decided on. Now to find someone with one for a test fit. I have a odd shaped head so I am not sure if I need a small or medium or large. Most of the 3/4 helmets I have used requires a medium or large but with half helmets are a small.

Sherry and I both wear Scorpion 1/2 helmets with flip-down face shields most of the time but if needed,we have a pair of KBC full face helmets.

I wore Arai full face helmets for many years and they are the best money can buy,IMO,but they are pricey.

Shirley would love for me to wear a full face/modular helmet. Problem is, I can not find one that is comfortable. I wont go for a full face. Cant stand that much confinment. I think I've tried on just about every modular out there and none of them fit.
Thats OK by me tho. I started out with a 3/4 with a snap on bubble shield. I'm very happy with a 3/4 with a flip up shield. Heck, I only put it down when it rains anyway. I'd probably rid with the modular open too.

Schuberth C 3 pro here. Very quiet, well made german product. Sun shield and and SRC communications system built into collar(extra$$$) but nice and clean. No wires etc...

I want to thank all of you for your suggestions. Got my helmet order. Went with the Nolan n104
Finding my size with a price I could afford took a few.
Found it finally for $359

again thank you all

Got my first trip in with the new helmet. Wow what a difference. Not once did I get the roaring sound in my ears. I keep some noise but but the new helmet kept the roar in order. The wind noise is terrible on me. I'm happy for sure.

Happy for you.

I am glad you found one that works for you. I have a HJC C-Max, because that is the onliest one I can get in a 5xl to fit my big fat head. Did you run across any others in your search with extended sizes?

Right now Revzilla has Schuberth C3 helmets for $500 normally $629, which makes them almost affordable. I bought one for the wife and myself. They are very nice helmets, very comfortable. I really like the strap hooking mechanism, it isn't the D ring type.
