We are getting ready to replace our helmets. we currently wear 3/4 helmets and iam considering a modular helmet.

We have tried half helmets , I don't have a problem with them but wife don't like them.

We would appreciate feedback on what you wear if you wear one.

Helmet selection in area is poor, should have bought at JP cycle rally last year. We currently wear fulmer and harley

Mary and I have been wearing the Nolan Modular helmets for around 10 years now. They fit well, and they use the ratchet instead of D-rings, so are really easy on and off. We like them because they use metal latches for the modular part, instead of plastic. Good venting, internal tinted visor.

We've gotten them from Dennis Kirk. They have a no hassle exchange on helmets, so you if you don't order the right size, it is easy to swap it out until you find the right size.

I think the ones we have now are the N102's.

I also like Nolan, and currently use a modular and 3/4. The ratchet chin strap is excellent. IME, modulars are louder than full coverage helmets, but I just don't like full coverage helmets because I have a hard time with my glasses when I put it on and take it off.

I use a HJC 3/4 helmet with face-shield and pop down sunshield, For most of the year..

For cold weather 20f and under i have an HJC Modular with the pop down sunshield...

They both work well for me...The pop down really comes in handy, When i don't need the sunshield i just press a button in the top of the helmet and it instantly retracts back into the helmet...

My current helmet is a Scorpian EXO 900.The new version is 920.Its a bit noisy compared to the GMAX helmets I had before. What I like is the drop down sunscreen and its convertible so I can remove its jaw and use it as a 3/4 if I want.I have to admit at times I wish for a dedicated 3/4 with flip up shield due to weight but when I ride 2 wheels I always like the added protection.

Best advice I've heard was "Try before you buy". If you can try one on or have the same brand already, that works best.

Make sure if you order online that they have free shipping returns or at least discounted returns. I had to return one once and the UPS return cost was nearly $30! :gah:

I have all types of lids, depends on my mood and weather as to what I wear. I like them all.

We have the HD Hybrid 1/2 helmets for summer and use HJC IS-Max II modular for the winter, really like the HJC when it's cool out.

I went to a modular helmet several years ago with the Nolan. I liked the strap fastener but it rendered the Wings helmet locks useless. I really liked the Nolan helmet and some newer studies at that time were coming out that the softer polycarbonate shells MAYBE better than the more traditional shells. My Nolan was due to be replaced and the LS2 got a Snell rating so I tried it. It just didn't fit my head and I had a couple pressure points that really hurt after a while. I don't think the new LS2 helmets are Snell. I'm back in a 3/4 ARAI now and really like the fit but I want to go back to a modular helmet and plan to soon. Would like to try the Shoei neotec but expense might prevent that. My guess it will be a Nolan.

The following is just personal opinion. I just don't feel covered in a 3/4 helmet. I wear glasses and a full face is out of the question. I know the lift chin bar on a modular is one of the weak points of that style helmet but it's sure a lot tougher than a human's throat, nose, chin, and jaw areas in case of a face plant. Just like oil and oil filters, we're never going to agree completely. Just wear something other than a doo rag on your noggin.

Fowler, under your pic is a square with a star. Not having noticed that before I clicked on it an It opened another window but I couldn't read what was written and then window closed. I noticed that square with the star now had a check mark ✅ beside it. Not wanting to make a guy that wears a Viking style helmet mad I clicked it again. Thinking I'll read quick this time to see what I've done.......I still wasn't fast enough but the check mark ✅ disappeared. ????

Just letting you know so if something shows on your end you'd know what happened.

Cheers!
