What did you do to your Trike this week?

Well I hadn't received it yet but have it ordered. Alternator went out so I ordered the Compu Fire and upgraded battery, I didnt pay attention when ordering it so I called today (ordered 2 days ago and no email yet of it shipping ) and they tell me 5-9 days. Im like ughhhhhhhhh no riding again this weekend. Guess were gonna take the camper to the lake and do a little camping with the grandson

WOW, you should be able to put everything in the world for goodies on the 1500, from heated gear to mega lights!
Did you buy the rubber mounts for the new alternator? Gee, why would you need rubber mounts, does it vibrate that much? Interesting!
Question, do you need to buy the high output battery all the time, or will a good battery serve as well?

I know nothing of rubber mounts, lol sure hope your not serious

When i went to researching them and asking around they said the High Output i.e. 90 amp would fry a normal battery(which i just bought last week thinking my battery was bad) but as a added convenience they happen to sell a package of alternator and battery lol I dont know why this battery is different then any other but didnt want to take any chances

The rubbers talked about go on the drive end of the alt. I put them in when I put the 90 amp alt on my 1500. I do have a vibration when accelerating below 2000 rpm. I also put in a lithium battery. Kind of pricey but will not have to add water ever again.

So, the rubber mounts are needed, that's what I read.
Please look into this before your installation, it could save you a redo.
Glad I brought it up in a way, kind-a made you aware of it.
Good luck.

I have looked all over and can find nothing of any rubber mounts, here is what i ordered http://www.jpcycles.com/product/ZZ38525

Can you please point me in a direction of the rubber mounts you are speaking of

I did email them and asked JPcycles

WingStuff also said the rubbers should be replaced when you put in a new alternator.
It was right under the Cumpufire alternator ad.

Just talked to my mechanic that's swapping these out to let him know Fedex says it is in town and I would be out there sometime this evening hopefully. He then informed me that he hoped it wasn't much bigger than the stock one as he almost never got the stock on out that the Champion swing arm or something made it almost impossible to remove and he thinks he will have to start removing part of the trike kit to get it in which I am sure means more money. Any experience here?

I am trying to envision a design. It's more like an El Camino inspired rear. I have been a huge fan of El Camino so I figured why not combine my 2 favorites. A hybrid between a trike and an El Camino. I will work on a design drawing and will show you in the coming weeks.

Sounds kinda cool, will it have a removeable camper top? hmmmmmmmm another idea lol

I've built two serious El Caminos so I guess you could say I'm a big fan, too.

? what did I do to my Trike this week? I sent my 2011 Roadglide " Bullet" to become a Trike! Zook and Hannigan will be doing the transformation. I'm nervous as can be, no sleep, thinking 24/7!!! No pressure Zook.:xzqxz::AGGHH:

Please, Don't forget to take photos, before and after so we can see what you have done to your ride.
Thanks

image.jpgWorking on the trailer for our trip to Florida and the Snowbird Rally.
Planning on doing some fishing while we are there so, I needed to put fishing rod holders in the trailer to haul my rods for the trip.
Leo, Jonesy, and Warren get ready to critique the photo! LOL

thinking about the trike

Put the chains on, changed the oil, greased the snowblower --- oh wait you said trike :D:D

Bruce, don't push it, 70 F down here in Dover. Going golfing the next couple of days!
No Snow, so, the snowblower is still under the lean-to.
LOL

Wanted to get a better handle on my oil pressure and oil temps. Ordered and installed these two gauges. I think they look pretty good and are solid. Installed the supper pump screen and a better cap for it.

That's OK on the picture, ask everybody and they will tell you, Rosy's pictures are all over the place, upside down, side to, or no clear enough!
You did better than I've done before.
Great job on the gauges, they look great.

WOW, 55F last night with day time temperatures in the 70s.
Looking to take the trike for a ride today. You are correct, my trike needs a bath also!

Replaced my grips, throttle was in bad shape H-D 5621-96 89.95 at dealer found NOS on ebay 15.00. No package but brand new work great. I just love a deal. :pepper:

Boy, you are so correct, nothing like getting a deal and making it work for you!
I have bought numerous items through the Internet and getting a much better deal than the local shops. I really hate doing this, because the local shops deserve the business, but the price is twice as much, it is a no brainier. I know a lot of people do not agree with me, but money in my pocket is good!
I do give the local shops my business, because working on my trike requires more specially tools which I do not have. At $85/hour, I believe it is a fair price in this area.

I agree with you, bottom line if your going to do work on your own bike then your time is worth money too. Best way to pay yourself is to make the money go as far as possible. Keeping it local I do at times when I need it today or they have a sale on. Also joined the H.O.G. and the wife, pay to go on the runs and give for the Vet's which I am one but try to help the wounded and families. I try to spread it around but retired means on a fixed income. :D

Right on, retired also means as long as you have gas money, you are on the road! LOL
Being retired also means a budget, without a budget, you are not going anywhere, because, just to make ends meet, can be very trying! Like they say, two things for sure, taxes and death!
See you on the road!

Took it out for a 80 mile ride around some county roads with the wife. In between all the rain that is. Might need to invest in some type of floatation device for the wing as it has been raining here for the last 3 days and the weatherman say more rain on Monday....:xzqxz:

Maybe you can find some plans on the Internet to build an Ark using your trike as power! LOL
Yes, there is way too much rain in the South now days!
Hope it dries for you soon, before you build the Ark!

Tire pressures

I have a questions for All:
What are you running for tire pressures on your trike?
How are your tires wearing?
Rear suspension straight Axel or IRS?
How does your passenger like the rear tire pressures, bumpy, shaky, or smooth?
How are your tires balanced, and are you getting good results?
Type of tires in rear, bias or radial?
I run, 41 front MPA reverse mounted..ceramic beads..
22 rear Michelin radial..
Very good results in the front..17,000 so far, look new.
Over 8 years on rear....need to replace soon because of born date on tires, not because they are worn out.
Thanks for your answers to the questions, could help newbies with their questions.
