What did you do to your Trike this week?

You a very correct about a fork brace doing all those things and more. That's why major conversion companies recommend or put them on.
When I had my 2 wheel older Goldwing, that's one thing I did was to put a brace on the front end. Really stabilize the front end's wobble.
Did you take photos, if you did, please post them on how to, or let us know where the video is about installation.
Thanks
Rosy

The video is on YouTube. Just type Black wing fork brace installation.

Installed a 4.5 degree rake kit, resealed front forks, installed Traxxion springs, installed a fork brace, installed a new Avon trike front tire, installed new front brake pads, new wheel bearings, removed the Fusion LED light show kit, greased the U joint, and adjusted the rear drum brakes.

Whew.

This weekend, heel toe shifter, transformer passenger floorboards, and Baker Air Wings.

Then, I'm going to take a nap!

WOW, you will need more than a nap. If it was me, I wouldn't get out of bed for a week! LOL
We need information on the new Avon front tire.
Did you use ceramic beads to balance your tire? If not, what are you using?
What pressure are you using? Most fronts run about 41psi.
Will you please report to TT how your new front tire is doing:
Low speed..shimmy..wobble?
Wet traction?
Mileage report.
Thank your for your info.

Rosy,

To start with, I'm going to use traditional wheel weights to balance the front tire. If I'm not happy I'll probably try centromatics. For pressure, I plan to start at 39 psi and change it up a lb every few hundred miles to see what difference it makes. I will certainly report back to the Group on what I learn.

Finally got around this morning to installing the 2015 Rushmore air cleaner that I had powder coated Gloss Black on our 2011 trike.

Changed my fork oil today,I think it was the original from 93 It was black and the consistency of water. The suspension sure does work a lot better. Definitely worth the time and trouble. It was actually pretty easy and didn't take long.

Today was the day I got lucky. Took the trike in the have my left grip re glued, grease the Hannigan suspension, check the fluids, check the shocks, and check the wheel bearing and steering bearing.
Well, found out my left side fork seal gone and fluid all over the caliper and brake. Needed new brake pads, and seal.
Also Janice told me to put on new grips, since both grips we're loosing their chrome where I hold them.
So, four hours later we left the dealer with a "new" trike.
So, I really got lucky because I did not notice the gone seal, because of all the Tupperware hid the oil.
So, I am ready for the Meet & Greet this weekend in NH.

I knew somebody would ask that question after I posted, No, my 02 GL Hannigan is running great.
So, no new trike, as a matter of fact, I will have this trike for a while..Love it to death..TN talk!
I suspect 100,000 on the engine will be a piece of cake, just like that 2 wheel Wing in the shop from Georgia with over 100,000 miles. Some two wheel GLs in the other web site have over 250,000 and the heads have never been off. Those flat pancake engines run forever! Some of these guys putting that kind of mileage on a bike are Iron Butt types! WOW
But, need to start looking at replacing some of the chrome "stuff", because of the age, they are starting to wear and peel.
Need to ask a question to you guys who do your own work, can you change your fork oil on a GL 1800, without taking the forks apart.
Thanks, and waiting to hear your answer.

On my 93 you can, there is a drain bolt at the bottom rear of the fork and you refill through the air valves at the top. There is good info about this on the Goldwingdocs forum.

Here's a photo of the 2015 Rushmore air cleaner I installed on our trike, this week.

Boy, that really looks nice on your trike.
I wish our air cleaner on a Goldwing was that easy to change..WOW!

Installed these

Wired a 12V Power plug in my left pocket, wired and mounted Garmin Zumo 660, and a Drink2Go bottle holder on my passenger hand grip. Installed a larger Kury break pedal.

MPERL,
Did you happen to take photos of your work? If you did, could you post them so we can see what you did. It also could help someone else who is trying to do something like it or give someone good ideas.
Thanks
Rosy

Not the trike, but work to the trailer to haul it to Florida.
Need photos or ideas, if anyone has done it to their enclosed trailer.
I am going to see about fishing rod holder (wall model) to hold my fishing rods in the enclosed trailer. Going fishing in Florida after the Snowbird Rally.
I could put them on the ceiling also.
If you have done it, let me know.

Shake down ride today after installing raked trees, all balls bearings, Avon tire, anti-dive shim, Traxxion front springs, adjusting suspension preloads, adjusting brakes, installing fork brace, and setting correct tire pressures.

Wow, night and day difference: one or two-up, it was nice and smooth, much easier to steer, no wobble, tracked straight, and very stable running down the highway. My lovely copilot especially liked the Baker Wings, no more helmet buffet for her (happy wife, happy life!)

Installed ultimate seat

Bought a nearly new used Ultimate MidRider seat on Ebay for my Goldwing 1800 Trike and installed it this past Monday. Wow, soooo comfy on my butt. It came with OEM passenger back rest, so I may have to consider buying the Ultimate back rest for my wife. But not yet. Ha.

Work on Roadsmith trike this winter

Going to take body off my 96 wing to make modification to suspension so I can adjust camber. The tires wear badly on the inside. They built it with toe adjustment but no camber adjustment. Going to try and make adjuster like autos had back in the 50's.

Let me guess, you are going to put shims in to adjust, am I correct?
If I am right, gee, I miss working on cars..The new vehicles are just a piece of computers running the show..You need mega electronic equipment to work on them..In the old days you could sit in the engine compartment and work on the engine, now, you can't even get a mouse in there!
Take photos and post if you can..
Thanks for sharing!
Rosy

No. There are no shims or any adjustment! Will have to ream out bolt hole on top side. Hope to find off center washers that act as an eccentric when the bolt is turned. Like autos had on the upper A frame. Don't remember if that was before or after they had shims. I think maybe before shims.

Actually a lot was done on my trike (bike) this week. We rode the GL1500 SE CSC Trike to New Hampshire yesterday to pickup my newly converted GL1800 with a new Roadsmith HTS Kit.

Hot Rod, Welcome to NH. How was the trip? Did you get a chance to go leaf peeping, it was a great day for a ride!
Congrads on your new ride..WOW, How was the ride home? Like your new ride, I bet you do!
Post pictures if you would, love to see it!
Thanks for sharing.

Wasn't expecting this!

It's not what I did to my trike but what SOMEBODY ELSE did to it. We went to watch a parade downtown and was forced to park it on a side street hill. Came back and found 2 deep gouges right next to the tail light on the fender. I thought it was some kids who did it with a rock but the auto body guy thinks somebody backed into it. Makes more sense. There road was blocked off so they probably made a 3 point turn and scraped the top of my fender. Probably never noticed they hit it. (Yeah Right!) I'm going to have them 2-tone both fenders. It'll cover many existing scratches and is cheaper than them trying to match the paint and having to clear-coat everything.

Yup, people, I won't go there! AAARRRGGHH
Sorry to hear about your find, not the best situation to try and explain to the insurance company, or not to explain and pay it out of your pocket! No matter it's not a happy situation!
Brian post pictures when your "new" trike is finished. Love to see your new colors.
Give our best to Cynthia, hope all is well with the Family.

Thanks Rosy. As you know, I don't have a phone that does that nor the "brain" that knows how to post pictures if I did! After talking with Road Dog I might stick with just the white and have them fix all the scratches while they're at it. Can't go through the insurance as the scratch repairs won't meet the deductible. Probably looking at $600 to $800. Bummer!
