What did you do to your Trike this week?

You are correct, short hauling, your trailer is great. But, if you are hauling in salt states, you need an enclosed trailer. Way too much salt on the roads till we get a good spring rain to wash it away. Your trike would be white by the time you get anyplace from the spray.

* *I live in a salt state and you are so right. I try not to take the trike out until after the a good wash down rain. So far I have been able to hold out and not take it out in the salt. Cuts into my riding season a little, *but it's worth it.*

Im with you. First salting and shes parked until we've had a few good rains to wash down the streets.

Last spring had to have a new caliper put on my Hannigan trike. Now I have a red caliper and a new one, So, I will get some caliper paint and match the red one. Also paint the hub black to make it look purty! I know some trikers think this is foolish to make your trike look pretty, but it makes it mine.

Last winter's project was to hook my trunk door to the side cover display when open. Ran out of time finding the plug, rewiring the switch, and fitting the wires. Had some great help from fellow trikers in trying to figure out where the plug was for the hookup. Never found it under the seat, so I was advised it may be hiding under the upper trunk, or in the recess areas around the seat. So, with winter being so long, snowy, cold, and me just getting back from my "adventure" (that's another story) since December 8th, we are going to "try" and tackle these projects before spring.

Hope your "projects" go well for you.

As far as I am concerned making your ride pretty is almost as important as making it safe and functional. So in that vein I am adding some safety chrome to the old 1500. I bought some chrome spoke covers from WingStuff for the front wheel. I will have to hurry and put these on as I have an event to ride in at my church this Saturday the 28th for the youth. It says it only takes 15 min to install.Well we shall see.original.pngoriginal (1).png
I'll post finished pictures later.

Great idea..I'll let my brother-in-law know about the chrome. He always looking to upgrade his ride, which is a 1500.
Yes, please post pictures so I can show my BIL when he comes up. He does not have a computer.

OK, we are getting Spring fever, we wish the salt was off the road, temperatures were in the 70s/80s, and the trikes are ready to go. Well, 95% is OK, but is the trike ready to roll out of the garage/cellar were they have been sleeping this winter.
Mine is still in the trailer from Florida, so, no work has been done, I believe it is going to be a mad house once temperatures warm and we are ready to ride to get it ready to roll.
What did you do, or plan to do to your trike to get it ready for spring? New bling, new tires, oil change, or just a good wash before you rock & roll?

Installed my Dynamic Ringz turn signals and cleaned the road grime off the trike. Out today to polish the chrome and clear coat the rear wheels a la Kevin. Riding season is right around the corner.

Boy, I thought spring in NH, but Mother Nature threw a curve our way, snow and sleet are coming down now, so, more than likely, more salt on the roads!
Like I said, it is going to be a mad rush to get the trike ready to ride this spring!
Skuuter, Sully, Lucky, Dennis, Bruce, Leo, Tom, Red, Fred, Dan, Phil, send some of the warm weather North! Thanks!
Hope your "tuneup" to your trike is going according to your schedule!

Had a couple days of warmth. Washed her up and took the first ride of the year. Short but oh so sweet. Now back down to the 40s for a week. I guess we wait a little more.*

Something to look forward to, not just waiting for the weather to break, like most of us are doing!
Has anyone put any miles on the new Avon front tire? If you have, any reports, handling, low speed running, soft or hard feel, high speed feel, hydroplane, but, I realize we don't really have many miles on them yet, but if you do, how are they wearing.
Thanks for your information.

Monday morning about 0400 I left my hometown of Pleasant Grove, Ut and ended my trike ride in Orem, Ut about 5 miles away 33 hours later. I did not go the most direct route however. I did cover over 1500 miles in less than 33 hours and traveled to Wendover, Vernal, Bluff, and St. George ( look at a Utah map) without ever leaving the State of Utah. I did take a little break from the saddle in Cedar City at midnight to 0800 Tuesday morning for a bit of sleep!

It was a great ride with temps as low as 34 degrees and as high as 75 enroute!

Bought and installed a tallboy windshield. The good Lord had a sense of humor when he made me....29 inch inseam and 6 feet tall. So from my hip down I am 5_8 but from my hip up I am 6_4. The stock windshield hit me below my neck. Even with the vent, I still got buffeting . HEY HD has this windsplitter thing and it's a nice thingy and a bargain at $165. SO I get one right before the dealer begins demoing them. and it is a tad shorter than the stock but it has s flip on it. How did it do? Well, coming back from Daytona in the rain, the water drops kept me hydrated if I opened my mouth. That's right, the water flew off the windshield right into the pie hole. Little visor on my helmet buzzing like a swarm of killer bees. The boy ain't happy. So it's off to the dealer and plunk down 144 samolians for the tallboy windshield. Just glad it wasn't $600 seats.

Rain yesterday so no chance to try the tallboy. Now, What to do with a little used Windsplitter?

I do not have your problem, as I am short all over! LOL
But, I do have a tall windshield and it is great for me and Janice, because if it rains and we can maintain speed, everything will blow over us! Only a few droplets will fall on the radio controls that come over the windshield, but someone wrote at one time that if you put a chrome plastic edging around the windshield the droplets will not come over. Haven't tried it, has anyone here on this site tried it? I think it was on the GL1800 Road Rider's web page, I thought I read that.
Let us know what you think of the tall windshield.
Thanks.

Thanks for the information, it is great to know.
I may put the edging on my windshield.

I have seen some Chrome edging for sale on ebay but it looked kind of cheesy. I don't use anything on Harley windshields except the novus stuff HD sells. I saw a guy put some windex with ammonia -d on his and it wasn't pretty. I am curious about the Pledge used as wax. Those that have say it works wonders and repels dirt. I'm thinking if I use the Lemony Pledge, it would make me think of Lemonade and then I'd want to stop and get a Chik Fil A to go with it. I look enough like Baby Huey that I probably don't need to do that. lol...

I use the Honda spray wax/cleaner and it works great. Gets rid of the bugs and makes it slick, so the rain beads off.
Cost about $7 a spray can, but worth it.
I believe WallyWorld has the chrome edging which will fit around the windshield. Same as they use on the car door edging to protect it from dings.

A few days away from riding into the sunset on your new Baby!
Congrads...great feeling!

still waiting

Trike conversion not finished yet but could be ready 3/25. In the meantime, I have ordered a set of K&N air filters and a F4 windshield. Also shopping around for new helmets since mine are years past the expiration dates. Looking at the HJC IS-MAX and having the J&M comm system installed. Anyone riding 09 RSV and using J&M comm setup?
Rosie, we will have to hook up some morning for coffee when I get off work.

Glad you have summer air. Not here in NH, we still have the cold air!
I went to WallyWorld today and was looking at the Rotella oil and filter. It is almost time to purchase these items so I can change the oil on the trike as soon as it comes out of the trailer.
Not yet, to much snow, soon, the warm weather is melting the snow!
Can't wait till Spring comes to NH.

Took a nice ride (bout 100 mi), picked up my newly powder coated (gloss black) luggage rack,
then came home and washed the trike and installed the new rack - beautiful day here in sunny CA.
