Trip

We returned home yesterday from a 3100 mile trip on our HD trikes (5 states + Ca), so this morning we washed them + a little polishing, now ready for Thursday trip to Reno Street Viberations.
Oh yes.......NO PROBLEMS!
Wife turned 40 thou miles
i turned 72 thou miles

First, the Tank Lift Kit w/Deluxe Option went on. Easy!

Then, progressed to the Twin Cam Head Breather System. Surprise! Didn't have to do any drilling on the "13 TG rear AC housing. There are three big open squares back there!

Next, on went the oil filter relocation and oil cooler kit with braided Stainless hose and Chrome hose clamps.

And finally, out for a ride and leak check. All was well, but discovered something pretty interesting, yet unnerving....

....key and fob are on the workbench within ten feet of the bike. TG fires up - no problem - and down the driveway I go. Go out and run about thirty miles and head back home. All is well. I get home to find my key and fob still on the workbench.

Good thing I didn't stop for ice cream or the TG would have put up a fuss and I woud have had to either go into override or call my wife and ask her to bring the key and fob. Next time I'm working on the TG, I'll put the key and fob in the tour-pack!!

I keep a card with my security code on it in my wallet, and the instructions on how to use it in my Tour Pak. That way if I get somewhere without my FOB (or the battery goes bad in the FOB) I can still start her up.

Today's Updates

- lift kit added
- 5000 mile service
- software update
- foggy headlamp and loose trunk latch (both warranty) on order, to be replaced on Monday
- returned and replaced rain suit that never should have passed QC inspection. Pants didn't have waterproof tape on the seams in the crotch so of course they leaked A LOT! And the liner on one of the sleeves in the jacket was sown in twisted making it all but impossible to get it on in a hurry on the side of the road without a lot of help.

Only continuing issue that the service department "hopes" will be resolved with the new software update is a problem with the voice recognition freezing up and not being able to use it again until I stop and restart the ignition. They couldn't get the problem to replicate itself.

I did a lot for my Big Mac today, by installing some of the delivery from DK Custom, thanks Kevin for this good deal, wich ended with releasing the packages from customs.

First I installed the “Chrome Mini Floorboards w/ Rubber Cushioned Heel Rests”, what a big step ahed in comfort. In addition with the Floorboard Extenstions now I have a pretty big area to place my feet, very comfortable. Not so nice, that the “Extended Brake Pedal Lever / Arm” does not fit on my bike. It conflicts with my leg shields, but thanks for this, I noticed, that the joint of the lever was bone dry. Then I installed the Mid Step, another great step forward in comfort. I need to accustom my self to the existence of this device, but very useful at mounting the bike! Thanks to the guys at Trike Mid Step for this invitation!
Finally the simplest modification, lowering the rear tyre pressure to 22 psi, gives a nice, smooth ride.

Today is bad weather, but I had to test all these stuff, so I did a short 55 miles round, where I found a nice resting place



with a grand view into dramatic clouds

Put the taller Wind Splitter on. The morning ride to work is getting chilly, even here in n central TX. Swapped out the fishtails for the short slash tips on the Street Cannon's. And, I finally ordered the rear trunk guard. With any luck, I am done jacking with this thing.

So I'm done with stuff for the Tri-Glide and my Victory except maintenance... My next money pit i think is gonna be Medal detecters...But thats for another post... :Shrug:

Only just so much one can do to the tri before it looses functionality. I'm not into bling. Believe me, it has taken me 6 mos to finally come around to the idea of buying the trunk guard. Not because I roll backwards into things, more the other way around. Or, some smart ass pops it out of gear just to watch it roll backwards across a parking lot at Wally World. I refuse to spend the $$ Harley wants for the black gauge trim rings. A sharpie will do the trick thank you.

I left work after a few hrs. went for a nice fall ride with wife. We stopped at the dealership and ended up buying some LED tail lights. So I just finished installing them.

Tuesday work on glide

Well I received my Progressive 444 shocks and spent a couple of hours installing them. Hopefully today the wife and I can take a little ride to test them out. :clapping: I will give a report after a good ride. James Young:cxtv:

That will be part of your report! Ramps I would say , unless your one of those flexible skinney people. Hope ya don't halfto pull the rear wheels, or change settings for 1up or 2.

:laugh: Won't be one of my reports .......... I'm quite happy with my air shocks. If and when one of the OEM shocks blows a seal and, should the trike be out of warranty by then, I will replace with Progressive air shocks.

I just changed the spark plugs on my 2011 Tri Glide, 40 thousand miles first time out. Perfect color' And the gap was at 45 thousands. I gapped the new ones at 40 thousands..I could've re gapped the old ones and put them right back' But at 5 dollars for two plugs why bother...:Shrug:

ride report on shock install

Well took a nice ride Thursday with the progressive 444 shocks and it is a great improvement. No hard jolts or bottoming out like we had with stock air shocks. Wife and I rode back roads and places we have rode before but felt better after returning. Not sure yet about adjusting the setting, I did mount them upside down per instructions but did not try turning the adjustment after install. I set mine up on the second ring and it seams fine so far.:clapping:

Change Coolant with Honda Silicate free Antifreeze,
Bleed and Replace fluid in both Clutch and Front Break Reservoirs and Lines.
Change Oil and Oil Filter (Rotella T6, 5-40 Synthetic Oil and a Purolator Pure One PL14610 with Chrome Oil Filter Cover).
Drain the Crankcase Breather Tube (*Dragon Drool).
Replace Speedometer Knob,
Install Kuryakyn Stiletto End Caps (Part No. #6249).
Replace & Install New Chrome Alternator Cover.
