What did you do to Your Tri-Glide Today?

Instaled mud flaps on my new 2020 TG. I put the Kuryakyn mud flaps on my 2018 and while I really liked them I thought I'd do something a little different this time. Learned about Frank's Leather Products on this forum and most impressed in that they are a small business, in the USA, and offer excellent customer service. Frank was a wealth of knowledge and helped me in my decision of what style flaps I wanted. I like 'em. :)

I am wondering the same thing.
 
The Target Tune made a pretty significant improvement over a good standard auto tune on my Sportster....but I've never felt the need to get that extra on the Tri Glide. Well, it would be nice, but never felt it was worth it, but that's just me. If one was looking to eek out every bit they could, it is the way to go. HERE are more details on it. Gotta have the wide band bungs in the header too.

My road glide champion kit had a S&S 124 super side winder that was 131 ft pds of torque my 2020 tri glide stock might be 90 ft pds it is a dog, not trying to get eek out every last drop trying to get some balls out of it, a target tune may get me 5 more ft pds of torque . the best you no is the best you have ever had .I'm going to try a screaming eagle stage 3 more compression 498 cam gutted cat arliness big sucker air cleaner bassani megaphone muffler screaming eagle tuner & auto tune maybe get 115 ft pds of torque ? that's my thought

NO DRILLING OF YOUR FENDERS IS REQUIRED FOR MY MUD FLAPS. Mud Flaps are held on with an amazing Hook and Loop System manufactured by Velcro USA. It is some of the best Hook and Loop in the World. I don’t know of any store where you can buy it. It was originally designed for use by The Aviation and Aerospace Industry and is a “Special Order” item. Velcro USA won’t even start up their machines to make this stuff for an order of less than 1,500 meters (about one mile) in length.

As you may guess, it’s fairly expensive but I special order it from a business acquaintance in Texas, who makes purchases for corporations working in The Aviation and Aerospace Industry. A 100% Polyester Adhesive Backed Hook Strip is attached under the lower edge of the fender. The Polyester Hook Strip is 100% Waterproof. It won’t creep or shrink and its’ operating temperature is minus 45 degrees (-45) to plus 185 degrees (+185) Fahrenheit.

The Loop Strip is sewn onto the Mud Flap with heavy-duty Thread. Opening and closing strength is rated at 500 openings. A customer (a retired Mechanical Engineer) tested a set of my Mud Flaps on his heavily modified Indian Chief at Willow Springs Raceway and at speeds up to 135 miles per hour – they performed flawlessly. I have customers (and myself) who have ran these Hook and Loop attached Mud Flaps on their bikes for over a hundred thousand miles.

I run them on the front of every bike I’ve owned for the last twenty years because they keep all the stuff thrown up by the front tire out of my engine compartment. They will work great to keep stuff out of your radiator or oil cooler, if your bike has one. Holding strength of this Hook and Loop is measured at 15.45 pounds per square inch, measured on a vertical shear and for example, an Indian Chief takes 31-inches of one-inch Velcro Hook around the inside bottom edge of the rear fender. According to Velcro USA, that’s 478.95 pounds holding strength for a Mud Flap that only weighs about two-pounds. Try them, you won’t regret them.

Magnets against a credit card? Would that be anything like magnets against a cassette tape?

I accidentally ruined several cassette tapes I had very carefully recorded specific songs onto from old records - LOVED those tapes ... then .... I put them inside a magnetic tank bag on the bike.. very bad idea.... TOAST!

Yep, everything is relative. With your previous 124 you had some fantastic power. Building out your stock 2020 M8 will take a bit to get it to where you want. Going with the SE Stage 3 will almost assuredly leave you disappointed still.

If it were me, I would go with the following 3 things. I believe they will get you to where you were, and beyond (if you want), be less expensive and much happier in the long run.

1. Get a good foundation with a True Stage I, plus cooling benefits (which produce more power and better reliability). Check out this LINK to see what I'm talking about. (A AN BS is not the way to go, it will only have to be modified or it will hold back performance and create tune instability)

2. I would contact Fuel Moto. Here's their LINK. Talk to Jamie, tell him what you have, that Kevin at DK Custom referred you, and that you are on Trike Talk Forum. They have many different levels of kits that will get you the power you are accustomed to. Much better bang for your buck than the screamin seagull stuff.

3. If the warranty is important to you, contact Jim Palmer at this LINK. He has a warranty program that can take the place of the Factory warranty on new bikes. It far exceeds the ridiculous Limited warranty that HD has been serving up since 2017.

Interested to see how it all turns out for you, regardless what direction you go.

I already bought the stage 3 screamin eagle I hope to install next Saturday and see how it goes I paid $ 1200. I have both screaming eagle tuners I have done the exhaust and air cleaner if I get 115 ft pds of torque I will be happy THE WARRANTY I DONT CARE IF BLOWS UP I WILL FIX IT me and my brothers race dirt cars build are own motors and cars, blow them up fix them they get wrecked fix them . I cant wait to see how it turns out . thanks

I'm sort of digging those lower fairing bags...might get myself a pair. Not sure what I would put in there, but I'm sure I would find them useful...maybe my night time riding glasses...easier than getting in the Tour-Pak for them.

Those fairing bags are the bomb for sure. Put them on my '17 CVO Limited in September 2016. Then I transferred them to my '18 TG and now my '20 TG. They are great for holding small items. Kevin I've not tried them for glasses but I don't think they are quite big enough. I'll have to check that out. In any case it's no problem finding things to fit in them. Wouldn't want to be without. :)
 
Yesterday and today I've been working on my new Aluma TK1 trailer. I picked the trailer up last Monday, February 17th, and the weather has been sucky since then. But yesterday I did get the chock installed - a Wheel Dock. Yeah I know it's probably overkill but I really, really like the Wheel Dock and wanted it in the trailer. Then I installed some X-Track rails along the side so I can tie it down to keep it from any possibility of moving side to side. I'll try and get some photos in the next few days.

I'm sort of digging those lower fairing bags...might get myself a pair. Not sure what I would put in there, but I'm sure I would find them useful...maybe my night time riding glasses...easier than getting in the Tour-Pak for them.

Yes, they are very handy and you will probably use them more than you think. Had them for about 2 years and glad I purchased them. Very easy install.
 
I completed the installation of the Wheel Dock chock and the X-Track rails in my new Aluma TK1 trailer over the weekend. Yesterday it was raining all day so today I had an opportunity to take it out for a shake down cruise over city streets, two lane county roads and oh yes, interstates. I am really impressed with the quality of this trailer and how well it pulls. I hardly know it's back there. And my wife is the one who noticed that it was less than half the price of our most recent (in April 2007) Bushtec pull behind trailer. In any case our trailer pulling with the motorcycle / trike are over and we're entering a new era where we'll pull the trike to our destination . . . that is when we're going on a destination ride and plan to stay in the area.

Yeah, I know . . . it's probably overkill with the chock and strapping. But I don't want nuthin' falling off there, lol. :laugh:

Well that is a fine looking trailer and trike. You are going to love the TK1. Looks just like mine except I don't have the X track yet, but I think I will add them. I did mount my spare up front on the tongue about 1/2 inch from the box.

I saw a lot of post a couple of years ago where some guys said the side mounted tire throws a lot of rain water coming off the tow vehicle up on the side of the trike. Congrats on the fine looking combo!:Coffee:

BTW, what size and type screws/nuts etc. did you use on the X Track install. That is a lot of hole drilling.

Screws are 1/4-20 x 1. I used a fender washer and lock washer also. Yeah it is a lot of holes - 48 per each track. Yikes.

CORRECTION: 24 screws per each 2 foot long rail. 48 screws in all.

Thanks for the info about the spare tire. I just mounted it where I saw some photos on the Aluma website. If it's a problem I can definitely move it.
