What did you do to Your Tri-Glide Today?

Glad you were able to get out of town and clear the cobwebs some. Too bad about leaving the FBG behind...but you gotta do what you gotta do. It's pouring rain here today...so borrowed Mary's truck to get in to work.

Cool pics, and nice wins to pay for the trip!

I'm a couple days behind in posting but last Friday I installed the mount and wiring harness for my Garmin Road Tech Zumo 590 on my new 2020 TG. Yeah I know it has a built in GPS - and 'new and improved' one at that. But I like my Garmin so much better. I may use the factory gps on occassion but on any long or complicated ride it'll be the Garmin for sure.

And I installed the CB radio system which I removed from my 2018.

Then I rode the TG to the dealer for them to install the backlighted hand control switches I had ordered. Need to change the right one at minimum in order to get the PTT button for the CB. And heck the lighted ones weren't much more so I went for it. On my 2018 I installed the right hand switch when I installed the CB radio system but since the new TG is less than 30 days old I'm letting the dealer install the switches so they can register the parts and install with H-D and that way they'll be covered under the factory warranty and any ESP I might get.

It'll be a few days before they can get to it but hopefully I'll have it back later this week.

Glad to see you are recovering nicely and able to ride less than a month after the knee replacement!

Thanks Kevin. Fortunately the dealer is only about 10 miles from my home. No problem at all riding that distance and I felt I could ride farther with no problem. Not all day yet for sure but a little putt around will be in the cards weather permitting after I get it back.

Oil Cooler bolted back down

Finished reinstalling the OEM oil cooler torun one more time to get a base line oil temperature before going to the new one. Now the wait for warmer weather to get rain and wash off the salt on the roads no hurry I'm having the new mount powdercoated. Possibly a dark graphite.DSC01507.JPGDSC01495.JPGDSC01488.JPG

Looked at old oil cooler

I took a serious look at the OEM oil cooler still on on shiney.

So I decided to clean it out and straighten the cooling fins. I never realized how plugged up and smashed the cooling fins were, It is going to be removed soon My advise for those who don't look at the cooler tucked down under the front of their trikes you should, you may be alarmed at how much crud you will find stuck in the face of that cooler. And that my friends translates into a non functioning oil cooler humm not a good thing. Tomorrow I'm going to unbolt it and clean it out from the back side with soap and water and compressed air I will update on what I get out of it. 10 years of crud I never gave it a thought. ride safe Fred

Connect to Sena headset?

Jerry, will your Garmin 590 connect to a sena 20S (or other) headset via Bluetooth ok?

No idea about that Mike. Never had or even tried a BT headset. I suggest you call Garmin for the answer. BTW the 590 is no longer available - it is now the 595. If the 590/595 is like the older 660/665 models (and I think it is) the only difference is that the '5' models have SiriusXM capability.

In any case the 590 is the best GPS I've ever had . . . and I've had a bunch of them over the years. I just wish Harley could get a GPS unit as capable as the Garmins and I wouldn't have to go through this time, effort and expense. :(

It rained all day on Wednesday and Thursday and on Thursday night we got a dusting of light snow. But Friday arrived with sunshine and warmer temps and by mid afternoon I went to the dealer to pick up my TG. They got the switches installed and now my CB works and they flashed the Aux input so prompts from my Garmin Road Tech Zumo 590 come through. So I'm getting this new TG slowly configured to my liking.

On Saturday I spent a few hours installing a couple other things - the rider footboard extensions and the Kuryakyn extended brake pedal. There was another recent thread about the difficulty of removing the oem bolts on the footboards and man, oh man are they ever tight. But a good bit of heat strategically applied finally did the trick. And I don't think a hair dryer would get hot enough. I used my heat gun on the high setting and even at that it took several sessions before I felt comfortable enough to completely remove the bolts.

Now except for the oem bolts the rider footboard extensions are a pretty simple install. Not so the Kury brake pedal however . . . as many of us know. I did watch a video on the install posted by Law Abiding Biker and took his advice to remove the lower bolts on the engine guard/crash bar the loosen the top bolt so it could swing forward a bit. That did the trick as far as getting the oem pedal off and the Kury pedal installed. But getting the pin through the brake pedal and the master cylinder not to mention then inserting the cotter pin took some time and a few choice words, lol.

But in the end I got 'er done and truthfully I'm glad that's behind me. ;)

Reverse Finally!

Looks like HD took my years of complaining to heart. My dealer just put a new Reverse motor on my beast. It looks a little bit bigger, but he said I can Reverse up my steep driveway with the old lady on the back and not worry about it. Has anyone else got one yet?

Frank......Welcome to Trike-Talk....:wave4:...

On my 2011 Tri-Glide...I put in a mechanical reverse....And did away with the electric one....

Fuzzy sorry about your aborted ride. Here is the greater Memphis, TN, area it got up to 67 degrees by mid afternoon. Wow that's really something for early February. Gotta love that global warming, lol.

Anyway after tidying up a few more details on my new TG I went for a little 50 mile putt after lunch. It's been 4 weeks and 5 days since my knee replacement surgery and the Mrs. was a bit hesitant for me to venture out. But I assured her I'd take it easy and I did. No problem at all and looking forward to more warm weather and longer rides for sure. :)

You are going to appreciate the heck out of the F4. Paper towels and water or Windex...wipe in any direction - no scratches! NO wax of any kind..you will like the way the water beads up. It is a thick and sturdy windshield with excellent clarity. :clapping:
