What did you do to your Spyder today?

I have a feel'n that if my Honda TRIKE ever starts to give me any problem, my next trike will be a spyder..(dealer 3 miles away from home) . Instead of buying another Honda (closest dealer 25 miles away) and then have'n it triked out again (closest dealer 125+ miles away)

Took a 100 mile hauling a$$ ride up the "Snake" TN hwy 421 to Mountain City, TN, Damascus VA, Shady Valley TN and back to Bristol TN . Freaking awesome ride. Wx was 72° & sunny. I was a bit cool when I got to the Shady Valley country store and cured the Cold fingers with a stout cup of coffee.
At one point in the ride going up the mountain on a tight curve I lifted the inside wheel at least 6 inches. I've done it before but not that much. I'm getting used to it I guess because I never even slowed down. After all there was a photographer there taking pictures on the turn. Lol ;-)>

Not enough Spyder posts here, so I'll chime in! Mine is a 21 RTL, have 22K on it. Super fun to ride. Also have a 24 Freewheeler with 7K. Also fun to ride. The Spyder has a fair amount of upgrades, LED lights, Russell seat, Ultra sway bar, bunch of stuff from Lamonster. My only real complaint about the Spyder, is dealer support. Not a lot of dealers out there if you like to travel. Fuel range is also an issue, in my opinion.

Yes, you definitely have to watch out for the Squids, but i love riding it. I'm very fortunate that it only takes me 20 minutes to get to hwy 421.

You sir,
are a very luck'ieeee man!
All I get is Springfield, Massachusetts HEAVY traffic, :poop:and 20 minutes from home, I receive even more traffic :devilish:

Since it is getting cold and snowey here, not much. On my last ride to Green River, Ut for Ray's Tavern lunch and Melon days,it has sat in its trailer. On the way home, the battery I put in a year ago decided it had had enough and gave up the ghost. I will put a new battery in it come Spring. No use having it sit over the winter.20201028_140617.jpg

If there is warranty on your battery and there should be if its only a year old, maybe you should return it and get a replacement. You could keep it in a warm place indoors and install it in the spring. Dont know whats up with batteries, but they should last more than a year.

This is true and since I was stuck on the side of the road when I replaced it I had to take what was available. That was a NAPA battery which I expected to be at least as good as the Yuasa battery I usually replace with. I don't have the receipt any more or I would have asked. I could keep it in a warm place, but I'll let the dealer keep it in his warm place and worry about it next year.
PS
I did take your suggestion to heart and called NAPA and they told me the warranty was only 6 months.

If it was one of the gray AGM batteries I never had any luck out of those. The "sealed" ones that don't have a tube are decent.Worked there 10 years and I always bought Yuasa batteries for my personal bikes.

Took a short 40 mile rd around the backroads, just cruising around at a relaxed 45-50 mph.
It took me a bit of preparation though, because it was 46° F.
I used to ride in those Temps almost everyday, but now it takes a bit to get me going. Well worth the effort though.
Cheers!

I took a 30 mile ride through the countryside on a sunny 32° F day. Yikes!!!!! It wasn't terrible except my face got pretty cold even though I was wearing a full face lid.
My leathers kept me warm, and the electric gloves kept my fingers from freezing.
Riding in these Temps ain't for me so much, but we have a big storm coming our way beginning tonight through Monday. I figured I'd better get a ride in. Cheers!

I started in Piney Flats TN, and met a pal in Elizabethton and we began our ride to Marion NC, where we would meet other riders for lunch at Bruce's Fabulous Foods.
Started out at 38° and sunny. We we got to Marion it was 70° but lots of wind.
On our way up we went through the area that Hurricane Helene hit. We went through Valley Forge TN, Hampton TN, Roan Mountain TN, Elk Park NC, Newlad NC, Crossnore NC, Spruce Pine NC, and Marion NC. All of these towns suffered from flooding and wind damage.
It's been 4 months since Helene, and although tons of work has been done and continues to be done, it'll be decades before It's cleaned up and rebuilt. 80% of the vehicles we encountered today we're Dump trucks full of debris. 100's of them . Seriously!
I know this area pretty good, and I know what it looked like before Helene. Sad to see so much destruction.
Pray for them 🙏🏻

Test rode today to bed in the new rotors and pads, and to see if i was correct about having a warped left front disc.
Everything is working great. Stops fast and no shaking or shuddering.
Before I purchased the rotors, i went the cheap route to see if maybe my pads were causing the shaking and shuddering under hard braking. NOT!
So next step is rotors. My Dial indicator mount is fubar so I placed a straight edge on each rotor, and could not detect any gaps. Went for new rotors anyway.
I had already checked the tire balance, lost weights, ball joints, and all of the front suspension. It all checked out good. I've only got 10k on it, so its still new.
Anyway it's all good, and I'm ready to Ride!

Went over the 10,000 mile mark in 18 mo yesterday.
Taking her out for a cool drink of 93 octane 100% gasoline this afternoon.
This machine has been rock solid and tough and reliable as an Anvil. Zero regrets. It's a keeper.

That's so sad... that area has so much of their income coming from being a tourist destination and that is gone for many, many years.

It really is. I mean just the number of wrecked vehicles stuck in mud and debris is unbelievable. Those vehicles will be there for a long time. Who wants them? Nobody. Environmental issues? Definitely.
On the bright side of things, there's enough fire wood to last my lifetime. You should see some of the firewood stacks in the area.
