TriPod

TriPod1

Excited to see how it turns out.
Did you see photo #1 of first TriPod, Added front fork and electric motor in front wheel and disc brake,

350W 36V = 20 MPH and could go 25 miles of travel, :clapping:

TriPOD 2

Aluma Trike, Since this is not a tricycle and will be powered by a front wheel electric motor or a Briggs and Stratten motor I am going to post this as a possible build. The frame material will be 6061-T6 aluminum (aerospace) the forks will be from a 1940s whizzer with 26" hub motor, the rear will have 16"x3" or 18"x 6" 8" rim dia. I want the rear to have a suspension so I am thinking wide 16" swing arm with coil over shocks and a motorcycle seat, This will be used for local travel (parts/beer chaser) 25 MPHish and bike lanes, This will also be Ca DMV compliant. The first photos will be of Tri Pod1 I built many years ago so this will follow the same build but different. This should also be a low budget fun thing that you can also drive on the streets...EDIT: 36V 350W 25MPH 20 miles of travel.

2021-04-03-362 Aluminum Paint.JPG-There's the paint, ANDDD! Do you guy's have any idea's for the brake rotor? Look's BLAAA-YUK, I'm thinking masking off the area that the caliper will touch the paint the rest or designs? Would love drill holes and slots, BUT $$$, This one was only $60. Have you guy's ever read the BOOK? DMV Code Book, about low speed vehicles? You sure can have alot of fun making low speed vehicles that are street legal and 16 year old's can drive/ride to local and school???

HappyEaster

EasterHappy.jpg-HappyEaster-2021-04-04-367 Fender braces.jpg-Made a little Z shaped brace for the fender to fork, 1/4 28 thread hole on the top, 10.32 thread hole on the bottom, damn thing took 2 days, and 3-4 days of internet search to find "original style" Schwinn lower fender brace to hub. Can you see the hub brace that keeps the brake from spinning? Now the brace on this one is not going to be easy, Double angles and center hole with square nut and drill hole through lower springer fork leg and it needs to be on right side, NOT left, damn me...:gah:

Tilted front seat back a little, Side view say's it all, front fender brackets finished and really good set, next will be the rear disc brake master cylinder system, :clapping:

Master Cylinder

2021-04-10-415 Pedal & MC.JPGI do not think a bicycle hand brake will handle the pressure of the 125cc master cylinder, Better to be safe than sorry. Bulkhead hole is .5, Rod is .4, Lucky me sometimes the shit does come together, need to shorten the rod about .75? then the pedal will not be so vertical...:clapping:

2021-04-11-416.JPG-2021-04-11-420.JPG-2021-04-11-421.jpg-Rear brake is finished and bench test works, :clapping:Now a second look at the front brake brace, needs drilling. The second seat is figured out and get metal tomorrow for the bracing. Got the check but haven't ordered the engine kit yet...:gah:

1aTriPod.JPGNow you can see the seating position, foot pegs next and extra brace for wife seat, We got our first shot today, no problems so far, :clapping:

Motor

2021-04-11-422.JPG-Started to order the motor kit and it "SEEMS" they do not have the batteries so they want to give me a $94.99 reduction in price, so after looking at battery prices I told them to reduce the price by $149.99. So we will see what is going to happen, Maybe a "Briggs and Stratton? or Harbor Freight, PREDATOR13 HP (420cc) OHV Horizontal Shaft Gas Engine with electric start, EPA/CARB $399.00??? I will see soon, :wave4:EDIT: They took my offer, YEA! And I found some Thailand batteries 4-12 V 20aH (more distance) each from USA seller that are 3.01 inches high on one side, the frame is 3." high

Elect. Motor Kit

2021-04-22-459 Elect. Motor Kit.JPG- TriPod wiring diagram2.jpg-Guess what came in today? eBay - Have this feeling some of the wires will not be long enough, Main wire harness is 5' 6" TP from handlebar throttle pigtail to be 6'ish to motor location, so I will see...:gah:

2021-04-23-460 Elect. Motor kit.jpg-And I really thought this was JUST going to be plug and play, colored wires are wrong, discerption is wrong, How can they get away with this shit?

Locations much better

HPIM4478.jpg-HPIM4479.JPG_ I like this battery placement better for both sides, BUT! The batteries are 1/4" short of fitting side to side, So I'll cut out 1/8" on both sides lower side. And the motor will set on a aluminum diamond plate belly pan with slots for chain adjustment, :clapping:BUT2 The master Cylinder needs to be moved forward of the bulkhead, :gah:

Batteries

2021-05-04-489 Batt 3.1 high.jpg-2021-05-04-492.JPG-Batteries are 3.1 high, and YES they are laying on their sides. There's going to be 2-1/8" X 1.5" wide straps running along the bottom in the middle of each battery with a 1/8" thick spacer and under the center upper cross piece. Master cylinder next, and ordered longer hose. :clapping:
