I have the H-D 51072-09 Road Zeppelin seat on my TG. This is the new one that is vinyl...Does anybody have any first hand knowledge of a rain seat cover that will fit this seat...I was looking at H-D's 51639-97, but my dealer doesn't have one, and "fits most Touring seats" isn't quite specific enough...Thanks!

Not familiar with your terminology. Do you want to ride in the rain and stay dry or do you want to just cover the seat to keep it dry when it is raining, leaving the rest of the trike to get wet? If you want the former, look into Bead Rider covers. Thbey have kept my butt dry riding through squalls.

I have the same seat as you, but I have the HD Rain Cover no. 52952-97 because I have the Rider Backrest. It fits the seat fine even though the HD Catalog says it doesn't.

This from one the HD dealer web sites:

Featuring a handy storage sack, this black nylon, water-resistant, cordura cover packs easily and shelters your seat from the storm.

Fits FLSTS and most Touring seats. Does not fit with rider or passenger backrests.

*WARNING: Do not use while riding, could result in death or serious injury.

With that said, assume that OP wants to cover seat while parked in the rain. Cannot be used if driver backrest installed.

I use the HD Oasis cover #98717-06 which is easily packed in own pouch for easy storage.

If all you want to do is to cover the seat when it is raining, you could easily make your own cover using cordura, virgin naugahide, whatever, using elastic to keep it on the seat. You and/or your rider can be creative. I am an amateur astronomer with a telescope with a 12 inch open end. I made a cover with naugahyde and elastic. Super cheap, does the job of keeping the dust and other stuff off the mirror while being stored. You can hand-stitch the elastic in place or use a sewing machine.

Clarification...Only want to cover the seat in the rain while parked...I have the Oasis day cover, but it is a pain to put on unless it is really coming down...Just want to keep the seat dry in case I get caught in a short downpour...

I have a sheepskin cover covering the seat...put helmet on driver's seat if stopped when raining. Also, Screwball has a good idea.....pull out a towel from the linen closet and use to wipe/cover your seat.

I always carry some sort of towel with me...helps with bug removal, wet seats etc..Been using a micro fiber cloth seems to work better for me..

Fred,

If all you want to do is to cover the seat when the trike is parked and it is raining, you can even pick up a plastic bowl cover from a good housewares shop. Looks like a plastic shower cap and will give passers-by something to talk about. (Come to think of it, maybe you can find an over-sized plastic shower cap.) It may not cost much, but it will keep the seat dry. Save your money for another farkle.

My Zepplin seat came with a rain cover. Did you buy a new one??? It should have came with it.

FYI, I rarely use it. If I forget to take it, I just wipe it off the next morning with a towel.

Here in Oregon where it rains all the time we put on rain gear and never get off the seat. Problem solved.

My comment was on the esthetics of the cover, not the lack of using one! Guess it didn't come across correctly. I'm originally from Washington, so know about the rain.

I'm glad I held off on commenting on the cover. I didn't want to offend anyone. :D

At least it looks easier to put on then the skin tight cover that comes with the Zepplin seat.

That cover reminded me of those hollywood/musician people that wear those huge wool hats over the ears 24/7 even in the 90* summer heat. I never understood that fashion trend.

Save the wave:wave4:

I got one from HD not sure model # but was the one for 2009 TG It works good when parking in rain and has drivers backrest cover built into it,also cover for pass backrest. Comes with carrying pouch built in,plus it fit in lower fairing pockets.
