Stainless Wheel Discs Behind Rear Rims

No worries about lug nuts loosening due to the wheel discs. Had them on my '18, '20 and now '24 TGs and no problem at all. Over 30k on each of the previous TGs and almost 11k on the '24. I do check them every few 000 miles but have never found any to be loose.

I, like you, would like to have these on my Trike but I'm somewhat concerned the extra thickness and weight could affect the torque of the lug nuts. I tighten mine to 100 lbs and check them a few times during riding season (they've never come loose). When you add extra thickness and weight to a rotating mass you would think there would be some type of adverse effect. Ever since I've seen pics of tri-glide crashes due to a rear wheel coming off messing with them scares the crap outa me. Don't need that to happen at any speed! To me the cosmetic change isn't worth the risk.
That's the reason i haven't pulled the trigger on them - even though I have wanted to.

35,000 miles on my trike with these discs, absolutely zero issues with balance or wheel torque.

I’ve had these on my Tri Glide for over 35k and have never had an issue with the wheel nuts not retaining proper torque.

They dont cause heating of the brakes. They are set inside, recessed in the mag and dont block the air that cools the brakes. They virtually block the brake dust from migrating between the mag spokes from coating the cosmetic side of your wheels.

I was going back and forth about this and definitely came to the same conclusion.
The cheaper ones on Amazon are approx $85.00 cheaper… but 100% agree:
Good parts are NOT cheap…. Cheap parts are NOT good!

Trikerbri, The mirror polished stainless steel wheel discs I manufacture are placed inside the mag wheel. You would need to look straight into the mag wheel in order to to view the disc They DONT block the air that cools the brakes system. They only block the corrosive brake dust from migrating through/between the mag spokes, making contact with the raw aluminum outer facing of the factory mags. I would assume that if the braking system required air flow through the mag for the brake caliper. The mag spokes would be twisted or formed to resemble that of a propeller. Though the mags look like they might act like a fan or propeller. I assure you they dont. Since HD came out with the trike and I'm meaning all the ways back to the servi-car models. 1st the wheels were spoked like that of a motorcycle. Then they upgraded that idea. Making it stronger, using solid wheels. I know they had drum brakes before going to disc brakes. But no matter what stock braking system you have on your trike. The SS discs DO NOT block the air flow that cools the calipers and they don't cause brake fade, nor do they throw the mags out of balance either.

I ageee. Sometimes we tend to overthink things and look for problems where none exist. Hopefully that has been done by the manufacturer / vendor BEFORE items are offered for sale. Another reason to go with a known quality manufacturer / vendor vs cheaper imitations. Love your wheel discs. Had them on three different TGs for six years and over 75k with absolutely no problem - well only problem is having to talk to and answer questions from admiring fellow trikers, lol. But THAT is a good problem.

I have my son’s Dyna FLD Switchback on the lift getting new handle bars, cables and Müller clutch kit at the moment:



So I will have to wait until I get it done and get my lift free before I install them.

I also have the DK Customs Axle retainer plates too, so I’ll probably pull the axles and press off the old bearings and re-install new bearings too when I do this.

Also, I have a riding buddy who also got the cheaper Amazon ones a few months ago, so this may be the perfect time to do a true comparison.
There is NO DOUBT that the “RJS Originals” will totally outshine over them!

They are nice and thick (Not too thick, not too thin… PERFECTLY thick! And stout!) I pulled back just a small portion of the outer protective covering and they are polished great and shiny too!

Quality definitely shows in these RJS disks!
I’m Glad I made my decision with these!!



Lastly, as some on here know I have a small YouTube channel, so I may wait to see my riding buddy, get the ones he has since he has not installed his yet….and do a video comparison for others to see and compare as well!

Again, there is no doubt, now that I have these in my hand, that there will definitely be a huge difference.

Brett, just make sure you follow the installation instructions to the "T". It's very tempting to just throw these discs on. The installation instructions point out the easiest and flawless way to install these without any possible installation damage. I wrote the installation instructions. So believe me,... I know. Also,... if you get any finger prints on the discs. Use only a new clean micro fiber cloth to wipe the disc clean. These discs are mirror polished stainless steel. Basically maintenance free, they wont rust either and you dont need to apply any polish. These are polished by a machine. With these discs installed. When you are riding as cross traffic at an intersection. The drivers watching your trike cross in front of them. They will get blinded by their own lights reflecting in your wheel discs and that's a fact!

My uncle might want them for his Trike project. He'll start working on it once we're done with the installation of the lift kit from 4Wheelonline along with the bumper and winch onto his Wrangler.

I honestly don't think there would be enough clearance. There is very minimal clearance between the calipers and rims as it is. The calipers CSC use are a bit on the larger side. This is a big reason that Centramatic doesn't make balancers for these. If they did, I would be buying them.

I would need to see a picture of the wheel your thinking of placing my wheel disc behind. It would have to be a mag first off. The clearance that your mentioning between the caliper and the disc, on a tri-glide is .060 . My discs will NOT mount with spoked wheels, just the stock 15" mag wheels that come standard on a Tri-Glide.

Tonight, I edited the original video that I had as I wanted to concentrate mainly on these awesome R.J.S. Originals polished stainless wheel disks!

(The original video had too much repetition… but I want to say this: the cheaper brand on Amazon were slightly thicker, BUT did not sit flat, and distorted once they were tightened down…. To make things worse, the polishing had three (3) different areas where it was scratched and scuffed completely across the entire surface, and the polishing was “grainy” so to speak. The quality definitely was not that good and now we know why they are cheaper!
I would not recommend buying a set off Amazon or cheap Chinese on eBay).

And the cheaper ones on eBay are NOT to be confused with R.J.S. Originals as he also has an eBay store…

Just curious about these, does anybody have them on their trike. Their are quite a few on ebay at different price points. If I remember right RJS orginals was the first one selling these, he has them at $225 for the pair, now their are other ones on ebay that range from $165.99 to $199.99 and a few prices in between.

Would they all be the same even the cheaper ones or does anybody know??? I know after every ride I wipe down my rims and that is getting pretty old doing this but I liked them clean and shiney, I have polished them up and I do this every year at the begining of riding season and they stay good all year, if I didn't clean I'm sure they wouldn't look good at the end of the year. According to the discs that prevents the brake dust from the rims. I also see that RJS has them in black, just 3M film on the stainless disk, not sure how they would hold up, I like those since my bike is black LOL

I've had these RJS on my 2016 for about 7 years. No problems at all with lug nut torque.
I pull the wheels off each winter for cleaning. A little Dawn with hot water and they clean up well. Light metal polish, ceramic wax and reinstall. No brake dust whatsoever.
