I think the wheel coming off is because they weren't torque right and the dealer installed them and the owner didn't check the torque after they installed the tires and rims, my guess is all, haven't heard of any coming off lately. When I take my off I check after 50 miles and then do it again after another 50 miles and then every month or so double check, never any problems and torque is right on. I don't think the thickness of the stainless disc has anything to do with it, if it was they would not be selling them.I, like you, would like to have these on my Trike but I'm somewhat concerned the extra thickness and weight could affect the torque of the lug nuts. I tighten mine to 100 lbs and check them a few times during riding season (they've never come loose). When you add extra thickness and weight to a rotating mass you would think there would be some type of adverse effect. Ever since I've seen pics of tri-glide crashes due to a rear wheel coming off messing with them scares the crap outa me. Don't need that to happen at any speed! To me the cosmetic change isn't worth the risk.
That's the reason i haven't pulled the trigger on them - even though I have wanted to.
