At noon today I got a text from our friend and Trike Talk Administrator Michael Kayne (pwhoever). He was involved in a wreck on his trike in Manchester Kentucky while en-route to Maggie Valley to join fellow Trike Talk members already there. Mike has some pretty serious injuries and was life-flighted to the University of Kentucky Hospital Trauma Center in Lexington. He has since texted me again and confirmed that he has a broken pelvis which will require surgery in the next couple of days.

Sorry to hear about Mike!
Thoughts and prayers coming your way Mike, keep a positive attitude and God's speed for a quick recovery.

Take care my friend.

Thanks everyone. I'm happy to be able to type this. I am very lucky. I was wearing my helmet (as usual) and my riding jacket, jeans and hiking boots. I was following my GPS and missed a turn but it recalculated right away so I didn't worry. Turns out I was headed down into a holler. Coming up a hill and really not going fast, I suddenly saw an orange construction barrel in my lane and it looked like road ended but couldn't get stopped quick enough. I ended up veering to right and going over an embankment with roughly 30ft drop. I have been told trike frame is split and probably totalled. I am very lucky because there were some kind folks close that called 911 for me. Worst for me is the fractured pelvis and I'm having surgery sometime tomorrow. Family is headed my way an will be here later tonight and tomorrow.

Again thanks for all your prayers and good wishes and to Papa Zook for posting this. I will update as I can...

Thank you Mike for letting us know you are able to use a computer and for filling us in on what and how it happened.

Good thoughts and prayers will continue your way!
May God bless you and grant you fast healing with little pain.
