Please Help Me With My Dilemma!

I found two 2019 GL1800 Gold Wings CSC’s that “ALMOST” meet my wish list.

Trike #1.) Has everything on my wish list except Auxiliary 3.6 gal. Fuel Tank; which I really like because most of my riding is in the Southwest Desert and that extra 3.6 gallons adds a nice comfort factor + it would allow me to make normal fuel stops with my 2-wheel buddies!

Trike #2.) Has all the equipment of Trike #1; “EXCEPT” for: Paint Match Ground Effects Kit ($1,325), Chrome Light Bar ($675), Paint Match Lighted Spoiler ($990), Dome Trunk Light ($45); BUT it has the Auxiliary 3.6 gal. Fuel Tank. It also has some nice aftermarket accessory items that I thought I would eventually add to any bike I bought.

After you make the add and subtract (plus and minus) adjustment on both bikes, Trike #2 is slightly more expensive.

So here is my question:

Would you go with Trike #1 and get all of the items on the list except the Aux. Fuel Tank (which you people tell me is an expensive bear to install aftermarket, IF you find a dealer that is willing to do it)?

OR, would you go with Trike #2 with the coveted Aux. Fuel Tank and order the Ground Effects Kit, Chrome Light Bar, Lighted Spoiler and Dome Light?

Your input would be deeply appreciated!

Aux Fuel Tank.....You want it, You will feel better on long rides IE Less Fuel Anxiety...

Id say go for the one with the aux tank, if the color is what you want. The chrome light bar and lighted spoiler are kinda pricey options and do you really need those? The ground effects can be more easily added.

^^^^^^^ What Bob said———Or cary 2 fuel cans in the trunk

Every new truck i bought i opted for the 35gal tank over the 28 gal...., During the oil embargoes 1973......I put a double tank in my 71 Beetle....20+ gals, It came in handy driving into manhattan every day...

TBH I'd go with the one that already has the aux tank installed. Seems it's a plus as well b/c it's got some stuff you said you were going to do anyway.

My 99 surburban has a 40gal , the fill ups hurt as the 13 mpg. :gah:

I would take the auxiliary tank vehicle... you will be surprised at how fast that gas gauge drops on a Gold Wing trike if driven over 3000 rpm... about 70’sh mph.

Jim, just my humble opinion but I would go with #2 because of the aux tank, that's guaranteed extra 100 + miles to go with your friends.

I want to thank all off the members that gave me such a warm welcome and a special thanks to the ones that chimed in, generously offering their recommendations, opinions and experiences. With this kind of reception, I can’t help but to believe that this forum is going to be a fantastic recourse for info!

Here’s an update: Both of the trikes that I mentioned in my earlier post fell through. I can’t believe the “FLAKES” doing business in this industry; but that may be a topic for another post.

I’ve been shopping and educating myself for several months, I drew up a pretty specific list of “MUST” have equipment. I finally narrowed it down to three (3) trikes that were on my 2[SUP]nd[/SUP]. choice list; I say 2[SUP]nd[/SUP]. choice, because these trikes had everything I wanted, except for the 3.6 gal. auxiliary fuel tank. I really wanted the aux. fuel tank because of my desert location, but I discovered that it is a rare option to find on turn-key trikes (my theory about that could also be a story for another post), so I resolved myself to carrying a gas can in the trunk.

I just closed the deal on a: New 2019 Hawkeye Blue Gold Wing DCT Tour, with California Side Car (CSC) Encore Conversion; with: * Powertrack * Passanger Comfort Anti – Roll Bar (ARB) * 775 Cap. Rear Shocks * Performance Disc Brakes * LED Fog Lights * Color Matched Ground Effects Kit * Stainless Steel Ground Effects Trim * Chrome Wheel Well Trim * 17” Chrome Encore Wheels * Chrome Rear Light Bar * LED Chrome License Plate Frame * Trailer Hitch * Trunk Dome Light; As an added bonus, this trike also had many useful options that I would have ultimately installed: Chrome Luggage Rack * Revco High Mount Highway Pegs * Utopia Driver Back Rest * Rear Passenger Arm Rests * Big Ass Cup Holder – Rear Passenger Arm Rest * Big Ass Cup Holder – Driver Left Side * Permanent pig-tail for a C-tech battery maintainer

I am having the trike shipped and expect it within 5-10 day; I’ll be sure to post some pictures then. Once again, thanks for all of the input! My 1[SUP]st[/SUP]. mod will be the installation of a clear bra. What’s the next “Must Have Mods” guys; where should I go from there?

Jim

Where you should go is for a ride, lots of them. For about 6 months and then decide if there is anything else you need to add to your trike. BTW :Congrats::10: on the Blue color and the new trike.
