New Garmin Zumo 590LM

Has any one seen the new Garmin 590 yet? It's suppose to be more readable in direct sun light.

Would you happen to know if the mounting cradle for the Zumo 660/665 will work with the new 590?

From the pictures of the rear of the 590, the pin configuration looks the same as the 660/665 models. Just wondering,,,.

Looks like that site is only for the ram mount, not that actual cradle with the electronic contacts for the rear of the Zumo's.

Thanks. I was just curious as I already have a 660/665 mount installed.

Is the magnet the only thing holding the display head to the mount? I would've thought that there would be some kind of locking feature to ensure it wouldn't fall off with rough roads and/or theft,,,.

I have an Old GARMIN ZUMO 450 that's almost 8 years old now...sat out in heavy rain storms, snow, even ice....still works perfectly....ZUMOS are TOUGH/BULLET-PROOF.....ThumbUp

Check this pdf, page 2 shows the mount for the 590 as almost identical to the 660/665 (no magnets). The dimensions might be different but it seems worth a shot if you can test fit one somewhere...

I was talking to Sierra Electronics about the new 590. They're supposed to get them in the beginning of June. I'll call them back at that time and see if they can do a comparison regarding the mounts and also tell me if the display on the 590 really is that much better visually in the bright sun.

Mine snaps into two latches at the top of the mount and is released by a push button on the side of the mount.

Not sure about the 665 mount, but does it have all of the input/output cables that the 590 does. Audio In, Audio Out, Mic In, and a standard USB connection for charging iPhone or iPod.
