New Bridgestone BT 46 Front Tire

Just put on a BT 46 front tire on my HTS 1800 Goldwing trike and I can't say enough about the ride. WAY better than my Avon trike tire. So glad I didn't waste big bucks on another Avon.
Avon still, to my knowledge, hasn't released any new tires. I think a lot of us will be going back to the BT46.

Did you mount yours backwards?

OK, your response was quite short - not needed. I think most of us here will mount the BT46, which is a rear tire. backwards.

I didn't this last time but have done it both ways in the past. And @tourman is correct. It doesn't need to be mounted backwards. It's a personal choice. And if you mount the tire yourself, you have the choice but there are quite a few shops that will refuse to mount it backwards.

What's the point of mounting it backwards? I currently have the Avon, and am quite happy with it. But, if I can't get another one when it's time I will need an alternative and with all the comments on the BT46 I would likely go that way.

The BT46 is a rear tire - so, the treads are designed to perform better when accelerating.

Front tires don't accelerate but do need the added tread for stopping. So, if you reverse a rear tire, all of that accelerating tread becomes useful for stopping.

Search this forum and you will likely find a more formal answer plus the video that supprts it.

Do you know if that tire is a little flatter , same as the Avon than the OEM two wheel tire?

Looks like you are riding a Wing - then, it is the same size as your original tire.

Since it is a rear tire, it would be a little flatter than the front. This is what you need on a trike.

to each his own....I will never mount one backwards. An accident & one wise Insurance rep or an attorney may rule against you

Understand your point. That same insurance company and/or attorney might rule against you if you have a conversion too.

What about a lift kit, rake kit, stage 1,2,3

I might imagine that same insurance guy may tell you - you are running a rear tire on the front of your trike - yep. lots of rules.
