My TriGlide to 2019 Goldwing CSC Trike Switch

Thanks Sir - but, I believe you missed my point. You said OUCH to a new TriGlide at $48K - I was asking about the price for a new Wing that has a trike kit attached?

I must have. In my mind, the guy who bought the tri-glide, and because many complain about their poor ride, might be the one who finds out how much a new 6th gen trike costs.

Ok time to change the oil again, I used Honda oil the last time but since there is not a dealer close by I was thinking about going with Rotella T6. I used it in my Venture I had and liked it, but I have not seen a lot of information about using it in a Goldwing. What do you guys think?

Once we found Amsoil years ago, we used it exclusively ever after in every bike we owned.. Kawasakis, Suzukis, Hondas.. including the Gold Wing trikes… we always noticed the immediate change in shifting on the first oil change after we bought them… smooth and quiet..

It's that time of year, changed the engine oil and oil filter, replaced the brake fluid the water content was not bad but I changed it out and bleed the brakes. After a test ride the rear brakes are better than have been since I've had the bike.

Woody, I’d be very interested in all comparisons between the TG and the GW trikes. I have a CSC converted 2021 GW and wouldn’t change it for any other make. Big reasons for the GW is the automatic transmission, rear suspension, reverse, powered windshield and electric suspension adjust. I’d like to hear your comparisons, both big and small. Welcome to our world and go CSC!

Mike, next month I'll have this bike 3 years, you listed a lot of the reasons I'll be staying with the GW. I do not have the automatic, mine is manual but I like it. My biggest problem so far with the GW is I can't seem to find a seat I like but it may just be me because now I find myself putting extra cushions on some chairs.

Yup, unfortunately it seems like the seats are a weak point. I have been using beaded seat covers as they seem to work best for me. I'm sure some of the custom seats like Russell Day Long saddles or some of the others probably would be a tremendous improvement. I'm just not quite ready to shell out $1000+ to achieve that level of comfort. Maybe if I win the lotto, LOL. 🤣

I know they changed the seat on the ‘21’s. That stock seat has been fine for me.

I know with the 1500 and 1800, folks either were fine with them or absolutely hated them.

In my case, I had a 97 1500 that I acquired in 1999 with just over 600 miles on it so basically brand new. But the seat never broke in even after tens of thousands of miles. On long trips, by the time just over an hour had passed, my butt was very uncomfortable and I would have to stop for a bit. And for rest of trip, I would end up having to stop more often. I did try having a gel pad installed by a local marine upholstery guy but pretty sure he just put it right on top of foam without removing some first. That made it worse. I finally tried the beads and found it helped a lot.

When I got my 07 in 2014, I had high hopes for that seat. One of the first things I noticed though was that when I would sit down, the seat vinyl grabbed my pants and wouldn't let them slide. My butt did slide just a bit inside the pants but because the pants didn't slide with it, it caused all kinds of discomfort in certain areas. i never figured out why but went with the beaded seat cover again. Once that was on, my problem was solved.

Mine had a diamond seat on it when I got it, never did like it and previous owner didn't either. When the heater went out in it and the dash light would not go out I bit the bullet and ordered an ultimate seat it's a beautiful seat and is better but not what I was hoping for. I got a purple cushion and now can ride a lot longer but I may have to try the beads.

I was using the Airhawk and a purple cushion until my 3000 miles trip. Then during the trip I decided to just sit on the seat, it’s been fine since, sun up to sundown.

If I can get this machine back together with this new filter in it I will qualify to work at NASA or something there is no reason an air filter should be this difficult. I got it out and didn't break anything but putting it back together will be the trick. I got to take a break and let my back rest.

Well it's done, that takes a long time to change. it had 16,800 miles on it and needed changing. It took me 5 hours but I had never done an air filter change on a Goldwing before. The Goldwing is a great bike but the engineers at honda are laughing at that one.

I was actually about to post a video of the process start to finish, but it would have scared you to death and I didn't want to traumatize you.
