Thanks to 2 Paps and MarcH for stepping up to lead the rides looks like we're in pretty good shape

now we just need someone to take care of Thursday's 215 ride

This is a great ride. IF no one picks this up, I'll take it too but someone needs to identify the lunch stop for me.

Lunch

I think I led this last year - wife wanted a coffee which turned into lunch at a coffee shop/cafe off 64 in a little plaza

The place I was looking for was Blue Smoke BBQ -great stuff I found out later

Turns out it's a food truck that moves around

I'd check website for where it will be that day

Rides

Thinking out loud

Perhaps not everyone wants to ride the dragon on Wednesday! So maybe we do the 215 ride ( nice scenery great roads) on Wednesday later morning

Blue Ridge Parkway Loose Gravel

This has been lifted from another board.

Be advised that large sections of the Blue Ridge Parkway have just been Tacked & Chipped.

There are three large sections of the parkway that have just been done and they have signs that riding motorcycles is not advised.

Here is the information from their website:

Pavement resurfacing will take place on the following sections of main line Parkway road and paved road-side pullouts:

  • Milepost 27 – 37
  • Milepost 64 – 101
  • Milepost 150 – 175

Parkway managers appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation during this project; and as with any road construction project, motorists and park users are advised to exercise caution while work is underway. In the interest of visitor safety and to ensure a smooth pavement surface at the end of the project, park visitors are asked to:

  • Check the Parkway’s Real Time Road Map for regularly updated work zone information.
  • Observe the 20 mph speed limit in work zones.
  • Anticipate loose gravel on the road surface during the cure time for the pavement. Bicyclists and motorcyclists, in particular, are asked to exercise extreme caution as loose gravel on top of the paved surface, during the required curing time, could result in loss of control.
  • Expect delays. Work zones will be managed by one-lane traffic control using flaggers and an escort vehicle seven days a week.
  • Comply with posted overnight road closures in active work zones. Affected sections will be closed from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., seven days a week.
  • Be aware that two (2) work crews will be working during this project. Crews will work Monday – Friday in 3-mile sections at any given time.

Ride safe!

Good info to know, Ed! :GoodPost:

Monday at Maggie Valley!

http://www.lightningcustoms.com/events/event_47381.html

This starts the day our gathering ends... I may stick around to check out vendors. Hopefully they will be set up on Thursday and we do some early shopping...

Sara and I arrived at our gathering late Monday morning, and there was hardly a trike to be seen. We went to Dale's Wheels Through Time museum with another triker couple at 1 PM (as planned) and enjoyed the knowledge of Dale's museum espoused by my fellow triker; it turned out we had our own personal tour guide! (Forgive me my friend, I am awful with names.)

When we arrived back at our "watering hole," trikers and trikes were everywhere, and it was obvious that our gathering was underway! Because my trike needs a transmission, and we are in the midst of refurbishing the exterior of our home, Sara and I opted to "commute" to our gathering for Monday, and cram as much as we could into our time with you all!

Since the blessing of trikes and trikers was my #1 reason for being there, I set about to pray for God's blessings on the trikes and the lives of as many trikers as I could, and enjoyed updating God's blessings on many trikes & trikers of previous years. And you DblTrbl, were the 1st of many to receive God's blessings for the day, it was great seeing you again and I enjoyed requesting God's blessings on both your trike and you and yours!

I am sure Sara and I missed the opportunity to pray for some trikers, and I apologize for that. On the plus side, Mike & Liz Pintgetzer are there with their red VW trike on the west front side of the motel, and as fellow CMA (Christian Motorcycle Association) members, they would be happy to pray for the trikes and trikers we didn't make contact with.

I can't begin to tell you how much Sara and I enjoy our Maggie Valley gatherings; when we left for home, we felt like we were leaving part of our family behind. Thank you so much folks for your love and your ready acceptance, it is what our gatherings are all about!

Lord willing, we will see you all again next year with a trike and not a cage, and another round of blessings!

Dave,

My wife, Becky and I thoroughly enjoyed sharing the afternoon with your wife, Sara, at the Wheels Through Time Museum.

And thank you for praying with us to receive God's blessing for us and our trike.

May God bless you and Sara also.

Thanks Doug, you made a GREAT Wheels Through Time tour guide. I can still recall your input on the air intake windows on the cylinders of the 4 cycle motorcycle (Reading?) that were supposed to inject extra air into the combustion chamber! It was like some engineer tried to make a 2 cycle - 4 cycle motor! I would have missed the vents entirely without your input!

I was totally surprised by how many trikes were at the B/W when we got back! When we went to Dale's there were none to be seen, and when we got back they were wall to wall!

I hope you enjoy our gathering and hope to see you & yours again next year, Lord willing and the creek not rising!

Arboretum

As it looks like a lack of interest for the arboretum it is cancelled

I'll be heading west on the blue ridge and thru the park heading back north

Great rally great people great time

Looking forward to next year hopefully at a different hotel
