Nice to see your new shaft came with 2 new universals installed and you didn't need to use the old ones. Press out the old universals and put some tape going around all 4 caps on each universal just in case you need one in the future. Nice job and it looks like you did very well. I'm impressed with your skill, but I'm surprised at your satisfaction with the vendor.
Unless I misunderstood something in this thread, not only did the vendor sell you a faulty component, but they charged you for the replacement. Seems to me that they should have not only provided the parts for free, but they should have paid for the repair. If this were a product coming from a bike manufacturer there would have been a recall announced.
