How many wear your helmets

I have RARELY ridden WITH my helmet, and I've been riding since 1964. I carry a helmet when I ride outside of Pennsylvania.

I respect those who *decide* to ride with a helmet, but it should be the riders decision, NOT the GOVERNMENT!

Before it was the law I never wore a helmet, I was to young and stupid, I wear one now 100% of the time.

I wear my helmet when the law requires me to. I live in Nebraska and they do have a helmet law but I'm only about 10 miles from the Iowa border and they don't have a law so I do a lot of riding in Iowa. No if a state don't require me to wear a helmet I don't wear one. If they do I do wear a legal DOT helmet. Been riding that way for 43 years now.

I wear a helmet here in Ga because it's the law. If I had a choice, on hot days I would not. Other wise I wear it for the radio and intercom.

Although helmets are not required here in Illinois nor in the neighboring state of Iowa (where most of our relatives reside), we wear ours when on the road. Mine mainly protects me from any gourd thumping from my passenger.

For me it's about 90% yes, 10% no. But ALWAYS if I will be riding over 65 on freeways. 2 other things to consider- 1) if you don't wear one, and pay for insurance, you are wasting our money, because if you were in an accident, and are not wearing uh our helmet, and are injured where a helmet would possibly have been sustained by wearing one, insurance won't pay. And 2) I've ridden <1000,000 miles, am very aware of my surroundings and on a trike, my chances of hitting pavement are low, think about another possibility. You could ask my friend Charlie how he feels about helmets, oh no, you can't-because he was riding without a helmet following a cement truck and a 30 lb. piece of cement flew off the truck, and de-capitated him. It's not only for if we g down, but also to protect us against flying objects. Nehru I do wear one it's a 3/4 model, less claustrophobic.

Ask Gary Busey how he feels about helmets.

Back when Gary had more than half a brain, he was against them.

Then, he bonked his head on a curb.

Now, I'm not sure if Gary even knows what a helmet is!!!!

We just traveled from our home in New York through Vermont, New Hampshire & we are presently in Maine. No helmet laws in New Hampshire & Maine. There was a time when we would go without them when vacationing in those states, but we're older and wiser and we always wear one now.

Without the helmet only when its rolling out of the garage. Then wife and I both put them on before the ride begins.
I work in the medical field and having seen some broken bodies, I want to keep mine as intact as possible should a dangerous situation ever arise.
Remember Nana and others here that have been in wrecks.
cooltech:cool:

I have one for each season. young and dumb didn't wear one. took mine off a couple of years ago in Arkansas and 5 min later got rear ended by a pick up. no head damage but broke the rest of me up good. now , I wear it any time I'm going to ride

Yeh 99% of the time, can't leave the house without cause wife gets on me so I have gotten use to wearing it. At 76 I don't know that I have that much brain to spare if I go down, I guess its a common sense thing to cover all bases.

Yuup! Idaho no helmet state, but won't ride with others than won't/don't wear a helmet.

I realize the the issue of helmets can really involve strong feelings, but this is the first time I've ever read where a motorcyclist would even ride with folks that didn't share his opinion.

I can understand that. If they don't care about their own personal safety, how much are they going to care about YOU?

Are they going to leave you an out? Are they going to ride safely around you, or act like fools? Are they going to back off in a dangerous situation, ie: curves, sand, blind corners?

Could always be the idea of seeing a fellow rider in a wreck without a helmet as well. I know if I was riding with friends, I would hate to watch something terrible happen when they could have prevented it because of safety, whether it is a helmet or not. Also, a past experience may cause such a passion for helmets.

I decided to wear a helmet the day I decided to buy a motorcycle.Although Ut is a no helmet state and I have helped defeat helmet law attempts. After two accidents with destroyed helmets I am glad I made the decision to wear a helmet, but it is my decision as it should be.

:p Not unless i am required by law to wear one, and there are roads that go around that state unless i cross the border into Canada and i don't much care if you ride with me or not!

 Your personal choice is just that, and i respect it!

Just sayin!
