I have a 1990 Honda GW 1500 with108,000 miles on it. The engine runs like a top! I changed spark plugs, run a little Sea Foam in the gas, even tho I use the good fuel storage fluid, new glass battery, clean connections. When cold it fires right up, and I have let it run for 15 seconds then shut it off and waited for a minute, and it still fires right up. It if it runs long enough to get warm, it acts like the starter is binding up. I am thinking timing belt( which has 48k on it) or starter! At almost$500 that's not cheap! What say you?

Just thinking out loud ..... what kind of fuel mileage are you getting ? May be the carb is slightly leaking fuel into the intake and partially flooding it when it is turned off. When it does start after it is warmed up, does it blow black smoke out of the exhaust for an instant ???

Thanx everyone for the ideas. The fuel leakage was the first thing that I thought of because of the way it is binding up. But no black smoke, and I tested it while it was cold and it did not lock up then. The starter is factory, which makes me think I need to re-bush and install new brushes on it. I have never had one out so this is a new one to me!
