If I don't get the light on bike won't start in N. Have to play with gear shifter or turn on and off a few times to get the light to come on. Also, when in 1st, have to pull clutch in all the way till it touches the handlegrip in order to start. I don't know much abt how my bike works and I don't want to get stuck somewhere like before!!! I'd appreciate any advice you could give me</b>.</span></font></font><img src="images/smilies/shrug.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Shrug" class="inlineimg" />

I have an 06 GL1800 with a Roadsmith conversion. I had some troubles like you are describing and my fix was replacing and bleeding the clutch fluid. It wasn't disengaging all the way so therefore it was hard to get it into neutral.
Good luck and have fun

the bike gets into neutral (it rolls back & forth), but the neutral light doesn't always come on and when it doesn't, I can't start the bike.

It may very well be the neutral safety switch on what was the kickstand is out of adjustment??
I had to adjust mine on my Valkyrie on more then 1 occasion.
