GL1800 recall

Jury is still out on this for Trike Kits as the rear brakes are all tampered with during a kit install. Some are no longer linked and some just re-organized to not look like stock.

Lots of Honda dealers are just looking for a reason to not honor a problem that will be done if it was still a bike....

So those that go to get this done / keep us informed what you find at your dealer?

Its called GL18 RR Brake Drag Recall...

Plug your VIN into this form and it will tell you if your trike is affected:

I think MOST GL1800s are! Can't comment on how important this is or if there is any real danger/issues.

This recall issue defect--the rear secondary master cylinder--destroyed the brakes/rotors on my brand new CSC conversion this summer. Fortunately my installer--also a Honda dealer--went to bat for me and Honda picked up the entire repair under a warranty claim.

Spoke with Gerard over at Kent Powersports in Selma regarding the recall. This time, when I plugged my VIN into Honda's recall tool, it showed my trike had already gone through the recall. I was a bit embarrassed because as a senior, it looked like I was NUTS.

BUT... it had shown my 2008 GL1800 as needing the recall service and now it doesn't... strange but in any case, Gerard told me that the earlier recall was NOT fixing the issue adequately and that there would be yet another to fix the problem secondary master cylinder and to look again within the next couple weeks. Honda had already told the dealership as a heads up.

Gerard also told me that there had been lots of problems (mostly seen with non-triked 1800s) and that they would gladly perform the upcoming recall on my trike.

Good to know information George! My Roadsmith rear brakes are delinked but I ride with several that are not. I'll give them a heads up.:xszpv::xszpv:
