Foot warmer doors

I have a 2008 Goldwing Motor Trike. There is a lever on the dash board that allows opening and closing the foot warmer doors on each side of the bike, but they do not close all the way. It creates a lot of heat for riding here in Texas. Is there anyway to close the foot warmer doors completely or is that going to cause an additional problem regarding engine heat. What I mean is are those doors allowing heat to escape from the engine as part of a normal operation.

Adjustment of the Foot Warmer Door's

Those foot warmer door's are adjustable. I had a 2012 GL1832 and was able to adjust those foot warmer door's. At the time I had a GW Service manual and followed the instructions. It is a cable that adjust them, sorry only had to adjust them once when I just had purchased the GW and don't remember the procedure. I'm sure someone will chime in and get you squared away.:Dorag:

There is a single cable that connects to the control. This runs down by the middle of the lower cowl where it splits into 2 cables. 1 runs to right door and one to the left. They can get tweaked when removing and reinstalling the lower cowl. IIRC, there are adjustors for each at the split but its been a while since I adjusted mine.

Just wanted to add, where the cable attaches to the control on the dash, make sure that it is installed correctly as well. If not, it won't be able to pull the cable far enough to close the doors.

Thank you for the input.

What is considered the “lower cowl”? Do I need to remove that !?!##! seat and top cowl? (I changed the air cleaner and have no desire to mess with all that again!) Also, will my running boards be in the way or am I going to have to remove them?

Bottom line is that those doors can be adjusted and be completely closed and not affect the engine cooling.

Lower cowl can be removed by itself. You can probably find several youtube videos to help. Pay attention to the panels and fitment on top left and right so you know how it fits when reinstalling.

Any updates on this?
