3000 miles after oil change what color should your oil be ? My level is good but the color is dark. Is that normal ? I use syn.

Thanks,

If it is dark it is doing it's job. Think of it like soap when you wash your hands. If the soapy water gets dark and your hands get clean then its working. Same with your engine oil. As it lubes and cools the engine it is cleaning all the combustion by products off the engine parts so they don't wear from the build up. That's why you change your oil to get rid of the by products that are absorbed into the oil. The filter get rid of the stuff it catches. Some oils to a better job of being able to absorb and therefor can be used longer. As the engine wears more by products are produced that need handling by the oil.

Yup, The detergents and additives are suspending the bad JUJU in the oil

When u change your oil pick a good oil and a proper micron rated filter to do the job

Look here, these can be had @ Wally World

I have used them

I cut 1 open to find it is well made meets the HD microns

Is cheaper

Available all day and night

Now, I dunno about any ones personal choices, I know what works 4 me HJMO

x2 on Mobil-1 oil filters. I use them on my daily driver, along with Amsoil in the pan. After 5,000 miles the oil is barely darker than when it came out of the bottle. At that point, I merely change oil filter & run 5K more until I change oil. The oil still looks useable & not black or contaminated by any means even after 10K miles.

They're barely 1 step below Amsoil or Royal Purple on protection from particulates, and like Jack stated, are available in lots of places.

Dare to compare a regular oil filter to a M-1 by holding one in one hand & one in the other. The M1 is noticeably heavier than a standard oil filter due to more filter media inside.

More filter media = more protection. A win-win in my book all day long...:clapping:

Clean oil = not working

Dark oil = doing it's job.

I use Wix, Amsoli, Mobile1, HD filters (whatever's on sale at the time) - just about anything else except Fram. Will never use a Fram filter.

I've read and heard more horror stories and negative test reports on them then all the others combined.

Yep! they are less expensive = cheap.
