bdn56 and Ultra,

I'm going to change the compensating sprocket (otherwise known as the engine sprocket) on my 07 Ultra. CSC trikes use two belt drives, first belt goes from countershaft (tranny) sprocket to jack shaft, second belt goes from jack shaft to differential. Can't change either of those so the only way to change gear ratio is by changing the motor sprocket. The stock motor sprocket on an 07 is 34 teeth. Evolution Industries (909 594 7969, ask for Gary or Al) sells a sprocket/chain kit that is a 30 tooth. I’m not sure what they charge for it, I had my local shop order it because I get an employee discount. I saw a price sticker on it for $400 but I paid a lot less than that. Somewhere I have a gear chart that will give you the speeds when you change the gear. If I remember correctly the 30 tooth motor sprocket will give you about 73mph at 3000rpm in 6th. On my CSC, with the 103 motor, this puts me in a really good range for making power.
The T Glide in 6th at 70mph is about 2600 + or -. With only 8 miles on it, it would run 70 in 6th easily but was pretty slow to accelerate. More miles should help but adding a passenger and luggage might still make a down shift necessary to pass. Be careful about changing the tranny pulley, with all of this new electronics now supplied it can cause problems. I’ve heard various stories about losing the 6th gear indicator or more importantly cruise control. It’s also possible that you would have to recalibrate your speedo.

Ultra, tell me what I need to do to get all of those manuals and I’ll be happy to send you and Trike Talk a check. Oh, the T Glide is Sunglow Red. If it wasn’t red I don’t think I’d be buying it. The SO has never been too happy with our Cobalt Blue/Pewter (Silver) CSC.
