Has anyone replaced their old CSC drive line on a pre 2012 goldwing trike with the new style from CSC? I'm not sure when they started offering it but it's my understanding they are now using automotive u-joints on both the front and rear of the drive shaft. If you have the new one installed I would like to hear your thoughts on reliability and maintenance.

I remember at least one doing it.There were alot of threads a few years ago shouldn't be hard to find if noone answers. As I remember they were very impressed at the time.

I have a friend that has a CSC and it tore up the driveshaft and he put in an aftermarket one. I'm pretty sure it's from Mountain Trike and he's not had any problems with it. I know that is the answer to your question but it's an option.

This is what I learned from Shawn at CSC when I called. The retro kit is 450.00 plus shipping and they allow 8 hours if they are putting it on. They started putting this on their trikes in 2012 and since then have sent out 1 u-joint as warranty. They have a demo trike there that they have over 100,000 miles on without any service to the drive shaft so durability seems pretty good. As far as putting it on myself I've never put a trike together so don't have a clue of how to take one apart and he seemed to think it was important to have a dealer do it. Still trying to get information from anyone that's done this though to see if I want to save the labor charge.

My brother replaced his about a 1-1/2 years ago.The splines stripped out on his.he took the driveshaft out and welded the 2 pieces together where the splines stripped.he run it that way for several weeks before the replacement shaft arrived .He said the new shaft was made much better than the old shaft. It had better joint at the rear where it bolted in.It only took him about a 1/2 hr to get the shaft out and back in. His trike is a 2008 wing.

I replaced my shaft with Mountain Mans some 2 years ago. Have been up and down the Pyrenees Mountains and through Europe. This new shaft is so much better, the movement is excellent. I was left stranded when the splines ripped to bits, leaving me with no drive.
Will test it to the limits this year when riding from Scotland to Holland, Germany ferry from there to Norway and up to the Arctic Circle for the Northern Lights and No darkness. Can't wait ;)

Do you mean Mountain Trikes:Shrug:
The only Mountain Man I know is a noted custom painter and pin stripper.
Thanks
