I decided to remove the cat from my Tri Glide today. All went well with the removal, will have a friend at work weld back the cut out piece. Will ride it maybe forward the end of the week, if the rain stops.

Nice cut, please let us know the diff. you notice after you ride it, sound, power, and cooling.

have you checked with your dealer about [if any] effect this will have on the warranty in the future ?

HEY!..that's my screwdriver :gah:.

Hope it helps ThumbUp.

I think you'll like the difference. The cat is nothing but a heat dam and really adds to the heat stress on the trike. I removed mine when I had headers installed and it made a heck of a difference.

Ride safe.

I removed the cat from my exhaust system and the results are good! Got it back together and Saturday my wife and I were out riding the whole day.

Results: Not as HOT, that is for sure.

Exhaust sound is slightly deeper, but not loud.

There is some exhaust popping on decel, but slight.

Seems to run fine with no ill effects.

Will post some pictures of project when I find sometime here.

I would recommend this mod to others as I have not experienced any bad side effects from removing the cat from my stock exhaust head pipe. It was sure less expense than purchasing a new after market exhaust pipe.

Did you mean slip on mufflers instead of headers?

When we replaced the head pipe, we noticed a HUGE difference in the heat issue and performance!!! We also put the screamin chicken air cleaner on also to help the engine breathe better.

Went out riding this weekend again, with a mix of city and rural roads. The temps on the rightside of the Tri Glide is definately cooler. My wife also commented about the lack of heat that was previously there too. I have had no ill effects to removing the Cat from the stock exhaust head pipe.
