2014 Tri Glide

Think about installing a small luggage rack on my Tri Glide similar to what's on the Ultra Limited, mostly for looks, has anyone installed one, any problems? Just thinking it may be to heavy when opening and closing lid.

I installed the Air Wing luggage rack on my 2014 Tri-Glide almost immediately last year. Having a rack is a must for me and the BSR. As they say, measure twice and drill once. I used 3M Painters Masking Tape on the lid to mark before drilling.

The lid is a bit heavy with it installed and I am leary of relying on the tether alone. Usually I rest on my shoulder or have the wife hold. I'm hoping somebody comes out with a metal bracket similar to the one I had installed on my previous Ultras. Forget the company but it worked very nicely. They do not have a version for the newer tourpaks at this time. Keeping my fingers crossed they will design one soon.

I've had the luggage rack on every touring Harley I've ever owned. Wouldn't be without it. Yes it is very heavy. I also have the lid organizer filled with stuff which also adds weight. That's why I installed a home made back up chain to the retractable tether. ThumbUp

I have 2 flags attached to the rack and I have to be careful when opening the lid so I don't break off the antennas. :D

If you will not use it, why spend all that money and make it a little harder to wax?
Use the money and get a set of floor board extenders, they help a lot with the heat from the engine/exhaust.

I put the rack on my Trike back in 20011, It is heavy, And when I open the lid I hold on to the tether just in case.... The only thing I put on it' Is when I park in my garage it becomes a helmet and glove holder... Other than that it's another piece of chrome that I have to clean when I do my by-yearly chrome cleaning..

Oh, just to add it does give the top box a finish look...ThumbUp
