2014 Parking Brake on a 2013??

I test drove a 2014 Triglide before I got my 2013 and I have to admit that I liked the foot operated parking brake way better than the older hand operated one. It got me wondering if you could adapt the pedal assembly to the older trikes.

I have not removed mine yet, but I have not used it in 7-8 mo's. all it does is drag and wears the back break shoes down, I first noticed it when I bought the T/G, I let the parking off to roll the bike forward a few feet in the garage, it was hard to roll, I put press on the handle and it moved aprox. 1/8 of an inch and the bike rolled easy.
I have not missed it at all. but I guess it does sell a lot of rear break shoes for the dealer.

The parking break was adj. by the book at the dealer on the 1000 mile insp.

I had the dealer lower the torque on the setting before I even took delivery. It has no drag when off, and I only use it when trailering. I believe spec says 50 and I had him go to 30 but don't quote me on that. There was a thread either here or on HD forum that stated the number. Can't find it now.

Almost anything can be accomplished of a person wants to throw enough money at it. I have to believe the cost of a complete retrofit would be higher than most would care to spend, it looks like there is nothing from the old style parking brake system that could be used so every piece of hardware for a 2014 would have to be purchased.

I agree. I'm not sure the brakes themselves are the same. They sure do work better. I undid the parking brake on my 2009.

Wasn't the question about the new style parking brake fitting the older trikes?

Yes, I believe that was the question. I want to keep the parking brake to try to keep from putting to much strain on the transmission when parked in gear. I also use it to warm the bike up before cold weather riding. My wife and I will mount up and then fight to get the brake handle released. The foot pedal is no problem. I don't know if the frames are the same? I don't know how the foot pedal mounts to the frame. I imagine the assembly is the same on the rear axle, just linkages are different. Anyone with a 2014 wanna tear theirs off and send it to me?
