Just a question on the wheels we have on our trike's. I seen some that are so bad. I mean that won't clean up at all. No matter what you use. Now has anyone changed their wheels on their Trike's ? Or had them Chromed. Or even did a Chrome exchange ? Or even bough different wheels...

Yes, many have done that, and I'm sure some will add to this thread.

I took mine when they were new and Clear Coated them with a rattle can. Almost a year later the clear coat is still holding up and the wheels are a cinch to wipe down and look like new.

Like Kevin I cleared my 2013 wheels when they were fairly new. 15 months later they still look new and clean just like cleaning the body. I just replaced my wheels with Performance Machine Custom wheels and cleared them also before installing. They clean just as easy. PM does not clear coat them.

Just a follow up...did you just clean them good and wipe them with prep all and rattle can them? Did you take them of or just be careful around the brakes?

Thanks in advance

I removed them from the TG. Cleaned them good, taped them off, and put on 4 coats of clear. Waited one day and put them back on.

I hate the stock wheels on our '14 Trike! No better than the ones on the '11! Impossible to keep looking good for some of us with OCD! And to replace them with nice chrome ones gets a little too pricey for us being we seem to trade Harley's quite often!

If you hate the stock wheels, why didn't you buy the wheels you love for the '11? Then when you bought the '14 you could have changed the wheels over. For some reason I think they are the same wheel. If they ever change just put the stock wheels back on the old trade-in & sell the custom wheels & invest in new ones.
Like said before tho, the spendy PM wheels don't come clear coated either. So,,,,, A can of clear coat seems to be in order for all unless they are chromed.

I.m a new member, first time chiming in on this forum. I just purchased a used 2013 glide with 7700 miles on it. Yes, the wheels were a little stained and dirty looking. I used " turtle wax chrome polish and rust remover" and i can tell you, they turned out beautiful. The bottle also says, it leaves a residue on, that protects against road salt, etc...

Is that one product or two separate products?

Know a fellow that used Plasti-Dip on his and they look great. He did them maybe 8 months ago and they still look great and very easy to clean.
